Alfons Freij Reassigned to Moose

The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club announced today the team reassigned defenceman Alfons Freij from Timrå of the Swedish Hockey League to the Moose.

Freij, 20, posted 11 points (6G, 5A) in 42 games with Timrå IK during his rookie campaign in the Swedish Hockey League. The Sölvesborg, Sweden product previously notched eight points (2G, 6A) in 29 games with IF Björklöven in Hockey Allsvenskan during the 2024-25 campaign, and totalled 47 points (16G, 31A) in 85 career games in the J20 Nationell league with IF Björklöven and Växjö Lakers HC.

Internationally, Freij tallied seven assists in seven games on the way to winning the gold medal with Sweden at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship. He also brought home bronze medals from the 2025 World Junior-A Challenge and 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship with Sweden.

Freij was a second round pick (37th overall) of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2024 NHL Draft.
