The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club announced today they have agreed to terms with defenceman Tyrel Bauer on a two-year contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $875,000. The deal is a two-way contract in 2026-27 and a one-way contract in 2027-28.

Bauer, 24, had five points (1G, 4A) and 110 penalty minutes in 52 AHL games for the Manitoba Moose last season. The Cochrane, Alta. native played all seven playoff games for the Moose and had six PIMs. In May, Bauer was presented with the 2025-26 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as the AHL’s Man of the Year.

Bauer, Winnipeg’s sixth-round pick (164th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, has played 214 AHL games for the Moose, posting 21 points (5G, 16A) and 401 PIMs. The defender has been recognized by the Moose with the Richard Bue Ultimate Teammate Award (2025, 2026), Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award (2025, 2026) and Fan Favourite Award (2026) over the past two seasons.
