Game Story

The Manitoba Moose (7-3-0-0) dropped a 6-3 decision at Allstate Arena to the Chicago Wolves (4-4-0-1) on Tuesday Morning. They were coming off a 2-0 win over the Iowa Wild at Casey’s Center on Saturday night.

Chicago’s power play made a big difference in the first. Felix Unger Sörum opened the scoring at 8:41, and the Wolves went right back to the power play soon thereafter. Pierre-Olivier Joseph one-timed a shot past Milic at 10:28 to extend the Chicago advantage to 2-0. Manitoba trimmed the lead at 15:37. Evan Nause stepped into a wrister, beating Cayden Primeau clean, potting his first AHL goal to make it 2-1. Thomas Milic made 11 stops, while Primeau made nine.

The sides traded goals in the second. Unger Sörum made it 3-1 for Chicago at 2:56, but Lucas Wahlin brought it back to 3-2 just three minutes later. Isaak Phillips threw a shot toward goal, where Wahlin deflected it into the cage. The Wolves snapped back at 15:38 with their third power play marker of the morning. Justin Robidas walked out front and put home a shot that restored the two-goal edge. Manitoba responded yet again when Danny Zhilkin used great speed to get around a Wolves defender, and powered the puck into the net, making it a 4-3 game. The Moose outshot the Wolves 13-11 in the frame.

The Wolves clamped down defensively in the third. Gabriel Seger scored a shorthanded marker for the Wolves at 6:07 of the frame, putting the home side up 5-3. Bradly Nadeau finished the morning with an empty net goal, as the Wolves skated away 6-3 winners.
