Game Story

The Manitoba Moose (6-13-0-1) fell 6-1 to the Calgary Wranglers (18-5-1-0) on Tuesday night. The Moose were coming off a 4-3 shootout loss against the Belleville Senators on Saturday.

Yan Kuznetzov opened the scoring for the Wranglers with the lone goal of the first frame, giving Calgary an early 1-0 lead. Manitoba's penalty kill stepped up throughout the period, fighting off three Wranglers' power plays and generating a few shorthanded chances. Thomas Milic made some huge saves, stopping 10 of 11 pucks sent his way in the Manitoba net. Devin Cooley kept his crease clear through the frame, making seven saves on seven shots for Calgary.

The Wranglers scored a trio of goals through the second period, while the Moose were held off the scoresheet once again. William Strömgren doubled the Calgary lead to 2-0 just 33 seconds into the frame. Dryden Hunt and Martin Frk scored another pair of goals three minutes apart in the back half of the frame, giving the Wranglers a 4-0 lead. Despite significant scoring chances, and four powerplay opportunities for the Moose, they weren't able to put one past Cooley, who made 10 saves on 10 shots against. Milic stopped 12 of 15 through the second period.

Parker Ford got the Moose on the board, finally sneaking one past Cooley a minute into the final frame. Sam Honzek re-established Calgary's four goal lead three minutes later, putting one past Milic on a breakaway to make things 5-1. Rory Kerins scored a power-play goal with five minutes left in the game, securing a 6-1 win for the Wranglers. Cooley finished with 30 saves in the Calgary win, and Milic ended with 34 saves in the Manitoba loss.
