The Manitoba Moose (2-3-0-0) seek to break out of an early-season skid when they host a rematch against the Rockford IceHogs (2-2-0-0) today at Canada Life Centre (2 p.m.). Brad Lambert picked up a pair of assists in Manitoba's 5-3 loss yesterday. The Moose jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but five straight Rockford goals pushed the visitors to the win.

Several veteran players recorded season-firsts for the Moose in Saturday afternoon’s action. C.J. Suess opened the scoring with his first goal of the season. Suess had previously recorded 10 goals during the 2023-24 campaign. Ashton Sautner and Mason Shaw combined for a goal late in the first with Sautner registering his first point of the season, and Shaw recording his first home-goal in a Moose uniform. Sautner posted 11 points (5G, 6A) the previous campaign, while Shaw racked up seven points (4G, 3A) in the nine AHL contests he skated in.

Chaz Lucius recorded his first point in over ten months against Rockford on Saturday afternoon. The Lawrence, Kan. forward played his first game since Dec. 23/2323 in Grand Rapids the previous weekend, and factored in on yesterday’s game-opening goal by C.J. Suess to pick up an assist. The 2021 18th overall selection’s previous point came on Dec. 22/23 against the Iowa Wild. Lucius previously recorded 13 points in 17 games with the Moose during the 2023-24 season, and five points in 12 games the season prior.
An Apple a Day
Brad Lambert currently leads the Moose with five assists. Lambert racked his second multi-assist game of the season, and the seventh of his career in yesterday’s tilt. His five helpers are currently tied for seventh in the AHL. Lambert previously led the club with 55 points (21G, 34A) during the 2023-24 season, and his 34 assists were second on the Moose. The Finnish forward was also second amongst AHL rookies last season in points and assists.
Keep ‘Em Coming
Nikita Chibrikov has recorded five points though the Moose’s first five contests (2G, 3A), and leads the club in points alongside Brad Lambert (5A). Hot starts are nothing new for the Moscow, Russia product who posted five points (1G, 4A) over his first five games of the 2023-24 campaign as well. Chibrikov was fourth on the Moose in points during the 2023-24 season, as well as eighth among all AHL rookies. Chibrikov is one of three Moose players to record multiple goals through the club’s first five games, alongside Mason Shaw and Dominic Toninato.

Elias Salomonsson has registered four points through his first five games with the Moose (1G, 3A). The Swedish defenceman made his AHL debut on Oct. 12/24 against Iowa and recorded a goal and an assist in the outing. Salomonsson is currently third amongst Moose players in points and tied for second among AHL rookie defencemen in points.
