Fast Facts: Moose at Iowa – Oct 23

The Manitoba Moose (5-2-0-0) meet up with the Iowa Wild (3-3-1-1) for the first time in the regular season on Friday.

Coverage of today’s matchup gets going at 6:45 p.m. CDT on CJOB.com, the Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV on FloHockey. Puck drop at Casey’s Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. CDT.

25’s Five Gamer

Parker Ford is currently riding a five-game point streak, scoring six points (1G, 5A) over that span. The Wakefield, RI. native is tied for the fifth-longest active streak in the league, with the longest point streak currently belonging to William Strömgren of the Calgary Wranglers. Ford reached 100 points (44G, 56A) as a professional with an assist in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, and currently stands just two points shy of 100 in his AHL career. Ford’s six points (1G, 5A) in 2026-27 have him tied for fifth on the team, deadlocked with Lucas Wahlin, and trailing Danny Zhilkin by a point.

O from the D

The Moose have received plenty of contribution from their defenders in the offensive zone over the past four contests. In that period, Manitoba blueliners have combined for 12 points, including two goals, with one coming from Alfons Freij, and the other courtesy of Henry Thrun. Thrun is joined by Isaak Phillips on four-game point streaks. Five of Manitoba’s seven defencemen who have a game played have at least one point, including Elias Salomonsson, who tallied his first point of the season in his second game on Wednesday.

PPG Moose

Four Moose are a point-per-game or better seven games into the campaign, with Brayden Yager, Nikita Chibrikov, and Noah Gregor previously over the mark. Danny Zhilkin tallied two points (1G, 1A) in Grand Rapids on Wednesday night, pulling himself to seven points (3G, 4A) in his seven contests thus far. Manitoba’s four point-per-game players are tied for the third-most in the AHL, behind Coachella Valley and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, who have five apiece. Both Parker Ford and Lucas Wahlin each have six points, nipping at the heels of being a point-per-game. Jansen Harkins in 2022-23 was the most recent Moose player to finish a season as a point-per-game or better (minimum 40 games played). Jason Krog was the previous Moose to do it in more than 70 games, scoring 86 points (30G, 56A) in 2008-09.

Keeping It Close, or Running It Up

The Moose have suffered a pair of losses in their seven contests, coming by a single goal in each game. The Moose have one victory by one goal, coming over the Texas Stars in overtime on Oct. 18 at Canada Life Centre, but have otherwise run up the scoreboard, claiming victories by 8-3, 7-4, and 6-1 scorelines. The Moose continue to have the most goals in the league, now up to 32, and have allowed the 10th-fewest with 17 scored against.

Who’s Trending?

Moose forward Danny Zhilkin tallied a pair of points (1G, 1A) in Manitoba’s defeat in Grand Rapids on Wednesday. His season total is now seven points (3G, 4A). The Moscow, Russia native has 48 points (20G, 28A) in his AHL career. Zhilkin set a new career high with seven shots on goal on Wednesday, bringing his total on the season to 21 attempts.
