A Couple Hundred

The Moose celebrated a set of milestones on Friday night as forwards Mason Shaw and Axel Jonsson-Fjällby both suited up for their 200th career AHL games. Shaw made his AHL debut April 10/18 with the Iowa Wild against the Rockford IceHogs. Prior to joining the Moose this season, Shaw had spent his entire AHL career with the Wild, and has registered 123 points (44G, 79A) through 200 career games. Jonsson- Fjällby made his AHL debut Oct. 6/18 with the Hershey Bears. The Washington Capitals 2016 fifth round selection first skated with the Moose during the 2022-23 season after a four-year run with the Bears and Capitals. Jonsson-Fjällby has recorded 110 points (55G, 55A) over 200 games in the AHL.

Feelin’ 22

Manitoba has been consistent on offence, registering exactly 22 shots in each of the first three games of the season. Over a third (24/66) of Manitoba’s shots have come from just three players; Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov and Parker Ford. Lambert, Chibrikov, and Ford have each recorded eight shots throughout their first three appearances this season, and have each registered at least one multi-point outing. Lambert and Ford previously led the Moose in shots during the 2023-24 season, each recording 172 shots.

Stingy Griffins

Manitoba’s loss against Grand Rapids on Friday night marks the first regular season shutout loss for the Moose since Feb. 17/24. Last night’s defeat was the 10th time a Grand Rapids netminder didn’t allow a goal against the Moose in franchise history. Three of Manitoba’s past seven games being shut out have been at the hands of a Griffins goaltender. Since the franchise’s return to Manitoba in 2015, the Moose have endured 29 shutout losses, and have a record of 14-15-0-0 in games following a shutout.

First Twirl of the Season

Forward Chaz Lucius returned to action last night for the first time since Dec. 23/23. After playing just 17 games due to injury in 2023-24, the Lawrence, Kan. product was back on the ice with his Moose teammates, registering a shot on goal in his first game in almost 10 months. Lucius suited up in 12 games during the 2022-23 season, and 17 in Manitoba’s 2023-24 run, racking up 18 points in 29 career games with the club. Defenceman Dylan Anhorn also made his season debut on Friday, recording three shots on goal. Anhorn appeared in two games with the Moose during the 2023-2024 season, and registered one assist.

Who's Trending?

Danny Zhilkin posted three shots on goal in the loss last night. Zhilkin also set up Dylan Anhorn for one of Manitoba’s best chances of the third period. The 2022 Winnipeg Jets third round pick tallied his first assist of the season in Iowa the previous Sunday. Zhilkin tallied seven points (2G, 5A) in 44 games through his rookie season in 2023-24.
