Big Dubs

The Moose are off to a 4-1-0-0 start to the season, tied for the second-best open through five games in franchise history. The 2022-23 iteration of the team went 4-0-1-0 through five contests, still standing as the team’s best mark. No Moose team has ever won five of its first six games. The Moose are currently 3-0-0-0 at Canada Life Centre. It’s the first time the team opened with three straight wins at home since 2021-22. The franchise has never won four straight home games to open the season.

Another Brick in the Wahl(in)

Lucas Wahlin had the most productive night in his short professional career on Friday night, posting four points (1G, 3A) in a win over Texas. The previous Moose to tally four points in a game was Ville Heinola on April 19/24 as part of a five point outburst. Wahlin is the 62nd player to score four points in a game in franchise history. The Woodbury, Minn. native notched Manitoba’s first goal of the night in the second period, adding a pair of primary helpers before the frame drew to a close. Wahlin joined the Moose after signing a tryout agreement toward the end of 2025-26, picking up three points (1G, 2A) in his first six games in antlers. He surpassed that in one night in 2026-27, bringing his season total to six points (2G, 4A) through five games this season. Wahlin marked his first multi-point game on Oct. 4/26 vs. Chicago, scoring a goal and adding an assist.

25 Big Ones

The Moose became the first AHL team to 25 goals on Friday night, adding seven to their count. Manitoba needed just five games to reach the mark. It’s the first time in franchise history the team has scored 25 goals in the first five games of a season. They did it despite a one-goal night in Grand Rapids on Oct. 10, scoring at least six goals in three games. While Noah Gregor and Brayden Yager sit tied for the team lead with four goals each, the Moose have done their scoring by committee. Of the 18 skaters who have played a game, 12 have scored at least one goal, while eight have two or more. Manitoba scored its 25th goal in its 13th game a season ago on Nov. 12/25 at Rockford.

They Come In Bunches

Manitoba’s offence has come in bunches this season, as have the points for its forwards. The same group of 12 forwards played in each of the team’s first five games, and eight of them have a multi-point game in the early going. Three of those players (Brayden Yager, Noah Gregor and Danny Zhilkin) have recorded multiple multi-point nights. Yager, Gregor, Lucas Wahlin and Nikita Chibrikov each have three or more points in a game, while Yager has achieved the feat twice.

Who’s Trending?

Nikita Chibrikov shot up the Moose points leaderboard with a three-point (1G, 2A) night on Friday, bringing his season total to six points (2G, 4A). The Moscow, Russia native has a point in four of Manitoba’s first five games, and is tied for a team-best plus-five rating in the early going. Chibrikov has scored 87 points (32G, 55A) in 150 AHL games in his career.
