Defenceman’s Delightful Debut

Salomonsson posted two shots on goal and a plus-two rating. He is one of three rookie defencemen to post multiple points in their first game of the 2024-25 season. The Winnipeg Jets second round pick in 2022 is taking his first strides in North America after spending the past two seasons with Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League. Salomonsson recorded 16 points (5G, 11A) in 69 games over two seasons. He captured the 2024 SHL Championship with Skellefteå.

Players on the current roster who scored shorthanded include Dominic Toninato (2), Axel Jonsson-Fjällby (1) and Henri Nikkanen (1). Ford finished sixth on the Moose with 41 points (18G, 23A) in his rookie season.

It’s the second consecutive campaign, and fourth in the past five, the first Moose goal of the season was scored by a newcomer to the team. King signed with the Moose over the off-season after recording 30 points (15G, 15A) in 61 games with San Diego in 2023-24. The
Vernon, B.C. product scored on his only shot of the game and checked in with a plus-one rating.
It Starts With One
The Moose captured their first win of the season last night, courtesy of Simon Lundmark’s game-winning goal with nine minutes to play. The victory marks the first time since 2016 Manitoba picked up two points in its season-opener. The previous season-opening win for the Moose came at Wells Fargo Arena against the Wild in a 3-1 victory. Nelson Nogier and Jack Roslovic each scored in their AHL debuts, while Quinton Howden scored the game-winning goal. Manitoba is 5-2-1 in its second game of the season since 2016.
