20 Down
Manitoba’s season is now 20 games old, nearly 28 percent of the schedule. The Moose currently stand in third place in the Central Division with a 10-8-2-0 record, with all of the wins coming in regulation. Leading the way is captain Mason Shaw with 12 points (4G, 8A), trailed by Walker Duehr (6G, 5A) and David Gustafsson (4G, 7A) with 11 points each. The Moose have scored 48 goals, allowing 55, and remain one of the most disciplined teams in the AHL, one of the five teams that are yet to cross the 200 penalty minute threshold this season. When the Moose do end up in the box, the penalty kill has been stupendous. The Moose own the league’s fourth-ranked kill, chugging along at 85.5 percent. Manitoba is also tied for the league lead with the Colorado Eagles with five short handed goals. Both Thomas Milic and Elias Salomonsson have made their NHL debuts with the Winnipeg Jets, adding their names to a long list of players who have skated for both the Moose and the Jets.
Back-Half of the Series
The Moose and Wolves officially enter the back-half of their season series on Sunday afternoon. Manitoba owns a 2-1-1-0 record against their rivals in Chicago so far. Isaak Phillips leads the Moose with four points (1G, 3A), with all of David Gustafsson, Walker Duehr, and Danny Zhilkin tied at three. Between the pipes, Thomas Milic and Domenic DiVincentiis have posted nearly identical stats through their two respective starts against Chicago, with save percentages hovering at .912 and .911, respectively, and goals against averages within a point on either side of 2.50. Sunday’s clash is the final meeting at Canada Life Centre in the 2025-26 regular season. The rest of the meetings come at Allstate Arena in Rosemont on Dec. 3, Jan. 11, and April 15.
Phillips’ Offence
Isaak Phillips kept hot both against the Chicago Wolves and in general on Saturday night, picking up another assist to add to his tally. Through 20 games, the Barrie. Ont. native has nine points (2G, 7A), leading all Moose defencemen in assists and points. Phillips has done the bulk of his damage offensively in the past eight games, racking up both of his goals and four helpers. He contributed his first multi-point game of the season on Nov. 15 against his former team in the Rockford IceHogs, scoring once. He is second among Moose defenders with 41 shots on goal, and fifth on the team overall.
Who's Trending?
Kale Clague has been hot, recording a point in each of his past three games for the Moose with three points (2G, 1A) in that span. Clague is second on the club in shots on goal with 49 and is tied for fourth in goals, both of which are the team’s top mark among defencemen. Clague was a Los Angeles Kings second-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.
