Getting the Call

After Thomas Milic was recalled by the Winnipeg Jets earlier in the week, Tuesday marked another significant day for the Moose and players making the jump. Elias Salomonsson got the news he was crossing the hall to join the Jets for their road trip this week, which will take them through Washington, Carolina, and finally Nashville before they return home. The Skellefteå, Sweden native has six points (6A) in 17 games with the Moose this season, three of which have come in his past five games.

Buzz Shaw

Mason Shaw continued to add his name to the scoresheet on Tuesday morning, helping to set up Parker Ford’s second-period goal. Manitoba’s captain has a point in four of his past five games (1G, 3A), bringing his season total to 10 points (3G, 7A). The Wainwright, Alta. product is part of a three-way tie for the most on the club, tied with both Phil Di Giuseppe and Walker Duehr for the honour. Shaw led the Moose with 37 points (17G, 20A) a season ago. The veteran forward is approaching his 300th AHL game, currently just 13 away. In his 287 games, Shaw has 168 points (63G, 105A).

Eating his Veggies

Kale Clague got back on the scoresheet on Tuesday morning, scoring his third goal of the season in the third period. Through 17 games this season, the Regina, Sask. native has scored five points (3G, 2A), with one goal coming on the power play. Clague is closing in on 150 points for his AHL career with 143 points (33G, 110A) to his name. Tale of the Streak

The Moose had their six-game win streak snapped by the Belleville Senators yesterday morning, falling 5-2 in their school day game. During the streak, Manitoba outscored their opposition 19-10, scoring a pair of victories over both the Rockford IceHogs and Chicago Wolves, and scoring two more over the Texas Stars and Milwaukee Admirals. The Moose used their big two weeks against the Central Division foes to climb the standings, currently sitting in a tie for second place with the aforementioned Admirals. Their penalty kill has been red-hot, turning aside 28 of the past 30 power play opportunities against. Manitoba remains the eighth-least penalized team in the league, sitting for only 178 minutes all season.
