The Manitoba Moose (5-9-0-0) and Chicago Wolves (5-7-1-0) clash this afternoon (2 p.m.) at Canada Life Centre. It's the third consecutive game the Moose face off against Chicago, and third in four outings for the Wolves to take on Manitoba. The teams split their first two meetings of the season with the Moose claiming a 5-3 win last week and Chicago winning 5-0 on Thursday. Dustin Tokarski registered his second consecutive shutout for Chicago.
The Moose kick their 25th Season celebrations into high gear this afternoon with the 25th Season Game. The Moose debut their 25th Season Celebration jerseys today and the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a collector pin. Tickets are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.
Shaw-ts On Goal
Mason Shaw led the Moose with five shots in Thursday morning’s tilt with the Wolves. The Lloydminister, Alta. product is one of seven Moose players to have appeared in all of the club’s first 14 games. He is also one of three Moose players to have recorded at least one shot on goal in all 14 of Manitoba’s matchups so far, alongside Nikita Chibrikov and Dominic Toninato. Shaw has recorded three goals and five points with the Moose this season, and previously recorded 19 goals and 52 points with the Iowa Wild in 2021-22.
Matinee Marauders
Today marks Manitoba’s fourth afternoon tilt so far this season, and they currently hold a 2-1-0-0 record in afternoon games. Brad Lambert currently leads the way in scoring, posting four points (1G, 3A) through the club’s first three afternoon matchups. Previously, the Finnish forward recorded 20 points (9G, 11A) in 24 afternoon contests as a rookie during the 2023-24 season. This landed him tied for second on the club in afternoon scoring with Kristian Reichel, just behind defenceman Kyle Capobianco.
Looking For A Good Start
The Moose fell behind 2-0 in the first period of Thursday’s game. Getting off to a strong start has proven to be crucial for the club’s success through their first 14 contests. The Moose are currently 5-2-0-0 when scoring first, as well as 5-2-0-0 when leading, or tied after the second period. Six different Moose players have recorded the first goal of a game this season. Dominic Toninato currently leads the Moose with two first goals. Nikita Chibrikov led the Moose during the 2023-24 season with four first goals.
Puttin’ Up PIMs
Mark Liwiski leads the AHL in penalty minutes, recording 55 PIMs through 11 appearances with the club. With two goals in the campaign, the Dauphin, Man. product is the only AHL skater with 40+ PIM to have recorded multiple goals this season. Additionally, his 25% shooting percentage is the highest of any skater with 30+ PIMs. Liwiski previously led all ECHL skaters in penalty minutes during the 2023-24 season, with 310 PIMs in 54 games. He recorded 11 goals and 25 points with the Norfolk Admirals that season.

Ville Heinola joined the lineup for Thursday morning’s matchup, seeing his first action since April 15/24. The Honkajoki, Finland product has played 153 games to date with the Moose, which is the second-most by any active Moose defenceman. Heinola ranks eighth on the Moose all-time list for points by a defenceman with 102 points (23G, 79A).
