Enter Kaapo
The Winnipeg Jets announced Tuesday the team re-claimed goaltender Kaapo Kähkönen off waivers from the Colorado Avalanche and assigned him to the Moose. The Minnesota Wild 2014 fourth round pick holds a 42-22-11 record in 75 AHL appearances with the Iowa Wild and Colorado Eagles. Käkhönen has a career 2.45 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and 13 shutouts. He won the 2020 Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s top goaltender. Käkhönen posted a 25-6-3 record that season, supported by a 2.07 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He led the AHL with seven shutouts.
More Power to Them
Brad Lambert and Elias Salomonsson have factored in on all four goals scored by Manitoba’s power-play this season. Both recorded their first goal of the season in power play fashion. Lambert has seven points on the campaign so far, registering one goal and three assists with the man-advantage. Salomonsson has posted six points this season, also with one goal and three helpers on the power play. Lambert previously led the club in power play points during the 2023-24 season (22).
Special Teams Scorer
Parker Ford scored his first power play goal of the season on Sunday. He becomes one of just 11 players league-wide, and the only Moose player, to have scored both a power play and shorthanded goal this season. The Wakefield, RI export is just the fifth player on the club’s current roster to have accomplished this in a single season, joining C.J. Suess, Dominic Toninato, Mason Shaw, and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby. Ford previously registered six goals on the power play as a rookie during the 2023-24 season, which tied him for the second-most by a Moose. His tally in Sunday night’s action also marks his second career power-play goal scored against the Texas Stars.
Blue Line Shooter
Dylan Anhorn led the club with five shots in Sunday night’s action. This marks the first time this season a Moose defenceman has recorded 4 or more shots on goal, and the first time that a defenceman has led the team in shots in a game. The Calgary, Alta. native is currently second among Moose rookies in shots on goal, third among all Moose defenceman, and 20th among AHL rookie defencemen. Anhorn is the only rookie defenceman in the league to record a shorthanded goal this season.

Dawson Barteaux registered an assist in both games of Manitoba’s series against the Texas Stars. This marks the fourth time in his career that he’s recorded points in back-to-back games. The Foxwarren, Man. product has four assists over his past four games and ranks second among Moose defenceman in points and assists.
