The Admirals roll in on a six-game winning streak.

That’s One!

Defenceman Dylan Anhorn struck for his first AHL goal on Sunday against Rockford. Anhorn achieved the milestone in his sixth career game after registering his first AHL point, an assist, in his second career game against the Texas Stars on April 20/24. The Calgary, Alta. product is the first Moose rookie to score a shorthanded goal since David Gustafsson and Cole Maier each tallied one during the 2019-20 season. Both of Manitoba’s shorthanded goals this season have been scored by players tallying their first shorthanded marker.

Suess Scoring in Bunches

Forward C.J. Suess scored in both games against Rockford over the weekend for his first two tallies of the season. It marks the 26th time in Suess’ 286-game career the forward has scored in a game, and then scored again within one or two games. The Forest Lake, Minn. product has goals in consecutive games 15 times in his AHL career. Suess’ longest goal streak is four games, recorded Dec. 14-21, 2019. His most explosive streak came from April 23-28, 2022 when Suess racked up five goals in three games.

Very Special Teams

The Moose penalty kill is off to a stingy start to the 2024-25 calendar. After surrendering two power play goals their first game of the season, the Moose allowed just one goal the next five games, going 16/17 in shorthanded situations. Overall, Manitoba has an 85.7 percent success rate when killing penalties. Meanwhile, the power play is gaining momentum with goals in back-to-back games. Manitoba went 2/6 on the man-advantage against Rockford. Three players including Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov and Elias Salomonsson account for all the points recorded by Moose players on the power play. Each has a goal and two assists.

Nikkanen Note

Forward Henri Nikkanen tallied an assist on Dylan Anhorn’s goal on Sunday. The helper marked Nikkanen’s second of the campaign, continuing on from where he left off in 2023-24. The Mikkeli, Finland product tallied all of his 12 points (7G, 5A) the final 21 games of the campaign. Over his past 27 regular season games, Nikkanen has 14 points (7G, 7A). Nikkanen’s assist on Anhorn’s shorthanded goal gives him at least one shorthanded assist in all three of his AHL campaigns. The centreman has four shorthanded points (1G, 3A) in his AHL career.

Who's Trending?

Domenic DiVincentiis continued his hot start to the season on Sunday, making 30 saves on 31 shots for his second win of the campaign. The rookie netminder has only allowed five goals on 94 shots in three outings for a sparkling .947 save percentage. That mark ranks second among the AHL’s rookie goaltenders and his 1.68 goals-against average ranks third.
