The Manitoba Moose (3-6-0-0) try to break out of a three-game slide when they rematch with the Texas Stars (6-3-0-0) tonight (5 p.m. CT) at H-E-B Center. Texas grabbed the opener of the two-game set last night by a 5-2 score. Kole Lind had a pair of goals for the home side. Meanwhile, Ben King picked up a goal and an assist for the Moose in the loss. Another Tally

Mason Shaw scored his third goal of the season in Saturday night’s action. The tally tied him for first on the Moose in goals, alongside Nikita Chibrikov. The Alberta-born winger has recorded 46 goals through 206 games in his AHL career. Shaw posted his career-high of 19 goals with the Iowa Wild during the 2021-22 season. Shaw also lead the Wild in goals-per-game during the 2023-24 campaign, at 0.44 G/GP. The veteran winger has all his goals, and lone assist of the season, at even strength.

Former Star Making Moves

Dawson Barteaux has recorded three assists through his past three games. His assist in Saturday’s matchup marks the fourth time the former Stars defender has registered a point against his previous team. The Foxwarren, MB export previously recorded 14 assists through 45 games with the Moose during the 2023-24 season, finishing the campaign third among Manitoba defenders in assists. Barteaux was also third amongst Manitoba-born AHL defencemen in points (19) and assists that season.

Making it Happen

Ben King recorded his first multi-point (1G, 1A) game as a member of the Moose on Saturday night. Prior to joining the club this season, the Vernon, BC product recorded six multi-point efforts through his rookie season with the San Diego Gulls in 2023-24, including a one three-point outburst. He is the seventh Moose skater to record a multi-point game on the campaign. King has recorded two goals and three points through six games with the Moose this season.

Pucks to the Net

Nikita Chibrikov has recorded at least three shots on goal in seven of his 10 appearances this season. The Moscow, Russia native is currently second on the Moose with 28 shots. Chibrikov recorded 146 shots on goal as a rookie during the 2023-24 season; the sixth-most by a Moose player that year, and fourteenth among AHL rookies. He currently leads the Moose in both goals and points and is third among the AHL’s Russian skaters in goals.

Parker Ford got back on the score sheet last night with his second assist of the season. Coincidentally it was the first game Ford did not record a shot on goal. The Wakefield, RI product had tallied at least two shots in every game this season. Ford is third on the Moose with 26 shots on goal. He tied with Brad Lambert for the team shot lead in 2023-24.
