The Manitoba Moose (19-30-1-3) welcome the Calgary Wranglers (30-20-4-2) for the first of two games this weekend at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is slated for 2 p.m. CT. The Moose are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Griffins, but have points in three straight games. Meanwhile, Calgary has lost three in a row after an 8-2 loss to Coachella Valley.

Forward Fabian Wagner scored his first AHL goal in Wednesday’s contest. Wagner fired a one-timer past Sebastian Cossa 1:21 into the second period. The Nykoping, Sweden export recorded the milestone in his 32nd career game. The goal also gives Wagner points in back-to-back games for the first time in his young AHL career. The Winnipeg Jets 2022 sixth round selection has four points (1G, 3A) on the season, all recorded against either the Milwaukee Admirals (2A) or the Grand Rapids Griffins (1G, 2A).
Rookie Sensation
Elias Salomonsson continued his offensive surge with a critical tying goal late in the third period on Wednesday. The goal was Salomonsson’s fourth of the season, and third power play tally of the campaign. After going six games without a point from Feb. 14-23, the Skellefteå, Sweden product has points in four of his past five outings. Salomonsson has six points (1G, 5A) over that span and holds a plus-five rating. The 2022 Winnipeg Jets second round pick has 21 points (4G, 17A) in 34 games this season, which is tied for ninth among rookie defenders.
Goalie Swap
The Winnipeg Jets acquired goaltender Chris Driedger from the Florida Panthers via trade on Thursday. The exchange saw netminder Kaapo Kähkönen head the other way. Driedger has a 10-6-4 record supported by a 2.97 goals-against average and .878 save percentage with the Charlotte Checkers so far this season. The Winnipeg, Man. native has appeared in 212 AHL contests, sporting a 105-75-19 record to go with a 2.73 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. Driedger has 65 games of NHL experience under his belt with Florida, Seattle and Ottawa, picking up 31 wins.
Power Play Producing
The Moose power play came through with the tying goal on Wednesday. The man-advantage also supplied the eventual game-winner on Tuesday. Manitoba’s power play has goals in four of the past five games. Over the past 13 games, the Moose are 10 of 42 when operating up a skater, good for a 23.8 percent success rate. Manitoba is 7-4-0-2 since the power play started connecting at its increased rate. Over that span, the Moose power play’s overall success rate has improved from 12.5 percent to 16.0 percent.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan picked up an assist on the tying goal on Wednesday. The power play helper gives Anderson-Dolan points in three straight games with four assists in that span. That pushes the Calgary, Alta. product up to 95 points (39G, 56A) in his AHL career. Anderson-Dolan has 12 points (3G, 9A) over his past 16 games, and points in seven of his past nine.
