Fast Facts: Moose vs. Abbotsford – March 22

The Manitoba Moose (22-34-1-3) reset and take on the Abbotsford Canucks (34-23-2-1) tonight. Puck drop at Canada Life Centre is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. The Moose continued alternating wins and losses with a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Canucks last night. Manitoba is 4-4-0-2 the past 10 games. Meanwhile, Abbotsford scored its sixth consecutive win with the victory.

It's a Night at the Mooseum in downtown Winnipeg this evening. The Moose welcome 16 Manitoba museums to the concourse of Canada Life Centre. Mark Him Down for Two

Axel Jonsson-Fjällby struck for two goals in Manitoba’s loss last night. The multi-goal effort was Jonsson-Fjällby’s third this season, all of which have come in his past 16 games. Over half of the Stockholm, Sweden product’s goals this season have come in two-goal outbursts. The outing was Jonsson-Fjällby’s sixth two-point game which ties him with Dominic Toninato for the most two-point games by a Moose this season. The 2016 Washington Capitals fifth round pick also marked down a plus-two rating in the game, which gives Jonsson-Fjällby a plus-seven rating over the past six games. The surge places Jonsson-Fjällby as the only skater to play at least five games with the Moose this season and own a positive plus/minus at plus-two on the season.

20 Strong

Ben King’s 10th assist of the season last night pushed the centre to 20 points on the season. King has now reached the mark in each of his first two AHL campaigns. The Vernon, B.C. product is one of four Moose with double-digits in both goals and assists this season. King reaching the plateau gives the Moose eight players with at least 20 points this season. The group is split between six forwards and two defencemen. Three Moose lead sit at the next plateau with 30 points on the season.

Last night’s game featured all sorts of Winnipeg connections between the two clubs. The Moose lineup held two Winnipeg-born players in Chris Driedger and Reece Vitelli. The contest was Vitelli’s first professional game playing in his hometown. Meanwhile it was just Driedger’s third professional start playing in his hometown, and second with the Moose. His first professional start at Canada Life Centre came against the Winnipeg Jets as a member of the Seattle Kraken on May 1/22 in a  4-3 defeat. The Winnipegger with the most professional experience in his hometown skated with the opposition as Abbotsford defenceman Jett Woo appeared in his ninth game in his hometown. Both Vitelli and Woo attended high school at J.H. Bruns Collegiate in Winnipeg.

One’s Good, More is Better

Dylan Coghlan picked up assists on both Moose goals last night, marking his second multi-assist and fifth multi-point game of the season. Coghlan is one of two Moose defencemen with multi-assist games on the calendar. He and Elias Salomonsson are tied for the lead among the team’s defenders for most multi-point games. The pair are also now tied for the lead among Moose defenders with 21 points, though Coghlan reached the mark in just 25 games. The Duncan, B.C. native’s 0.84 points per game average is tied for fifth in among AHL defencemen this season. (min 10 games)

Who's Trending?

Kevin Conley returned to the Moose lineup in last night’s contest. Conley missed 27 games due to an injury sustained Jan.11 against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The forward recorded one shot on goal and an even plus/minus rating in his return. Conley has four points (3G, 1A) in 23 games in his first season with the Moose.
