Fast Facts: Moose at Wranglers – Jan. 3

The Manitoba Moose (7-19-0-1) embark on a five-game road trip, beginning tonight (8 p.m. CT) against the Calgary Wranglers (22-9-1-0). The Moose closed out 2024 with a 3-1 loss to the Texas Stars. Axel Jonsson-Fjällby scored for Manitoba while Thomas Milic made 20 saves. The Wranglers opened 2025 with a 4-2 win over Abbotsford. Wainwright’s Own

Mason Shaw recorded an assist in Manitoba’s previous outing against Texas. He’s currently riding a three-game point streak (1G,2A); his longest since joining the club. The Wainwright, Alta. product previously posted a career-high eight game point streak as a member of the Iowa Wild during the 2021-22 season. He is the fifth Moose skater to register a point streak of three or more games this season, joining Nikita Chibrikov, Axel Jonsson-Fjällby, Parker Ford, and Chaz Lucius. Shaw has recorded 12 points, (5G, 7A) with the Moose this season, and is currently tied for second on the team in both goals and points.

Back on the Board

Axel Jonsson-Fjällby scored the lone goal for Manitoba in Tuesday’s contest; his second tally of the campaign so far. The Swedish forward has recorded 11 points (2G, 9A), placing him fifth on the Moose leaderboard. He also co-leads the club in assists, alongside Brad Lambert and Elias Salomonsson. Jonsson-Fjällby previously recorded a career-high of 16 goals as a member of the Hershey Bears during the 2021-22 season. He recorded 30 points (12G, 18A) as a member of the Moose last season, and recorded three game-winning goals that year; the second-most on the team, behind Parker Ford with seven.

Picking Up Points

Dylan Anhorn recorded an assist on Tuesday. The rookie defenceman has recorded a point in two of his past three appearances, and has recorded five points (2G, 3A) so far this season. Anhorn is now second among all Moose rookies in points, and tied for second in both goals and assists. The Calgary, Alta. product is also tied for third among all Moose defenceman in points, and leads all Manitoba defenders with 34 shots on goal. The former St. Cloud State captain previously appeared in two games with the Moose during the 2023-24 season, recording one assist.

Performing On The Big Stage

The Moose saw a season-high 6,483 fans pile into Canada Life Centre for their matchup on New Years Eve. While they didn’t that game, it’s become evident that the club performs better in front of a larger crowd. Manitoba is 3-2-0-0 this season in front of crowds 6,000+, and 3-0-0-0 when that number hits 7,000, having recorded three of their four road wins in front of 7,000 or more opposing fans in Iowa, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Nikita Chibrikov owns seven points (1G, 6A) in front of a 6,000+ audience, including two three-point outings in Iowa and Milwaukee.

Kevin Conley recorded a season-high four shots on goal in Tuesday’s contest against Texas, matching a career-high set twice with the Iowa Wild during the 2023-24 season. He recorded career highs in goals, assists, and points that same season, posting 16 points (6G, 10A) in 59 outings. Conley has two goals in 17 games with the Moose this season.
