The Manitoba Moose (20-15-3-0) host their penultimate meeting of the season with the Rockford IceHogs (16-23-2-2) on Saturday afternoon. The Moose earned a 3-2 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Jan. 25, their third win in their past four games. Rockford dropped a 5-3 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, their third consecutive loss.

Big Tests, Big Successes

The Moose are fresh off the back of a difficult two weeks of hockey. They faced the Laval Rocket for a pair of games at Place Bell before hosting the Grand Rapids Griffins for a couple of contests, both division leaders. Manitoba earned three wins, outscoring their opposition 9-5, never conceding more than two goals in a game. The penalty kill was key for the Moose in their past four games, shutting down 12 of the past 13 opportunities they faced, including going eight-for-eight against the Laval Rocket, who are clicking at a better than 25 percent clip on home ice. Manitoba’s victory over Grand Rapids marked the Griffins first regulation loss on the road and when leading in the third period.

Philly Goes Up

Isaak Phillips was recalled by the Winnipeg Jets for the second time in as many weeks on Monday, returning to the big club following a pair of games in antlers over the weekend. The Barrie, Ont. native picked up a pair of assists and a plus-two rating in the weekend series with the Grand Rapids Griffins, bringing his season total to 15 points (3G, 12A) in 35 games with the Moose thus far in 2025-26. Phillips played in two games with the Jets during his earlier recall, playing an average of 8:12 per game. He has played in 58 NHL contests, spending 56 games with the Chicago Blackhawks. He has posted 12 points (2G, 10A) in the NHL.

Hitting 20

The Moose tasted victory for the 20th time this season on Jan. 25, downing the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 on home ice. The win improved their record to 20-15-3-0, good for third in the Central Division. In 2024-25, Manitoba earned its 20th win of the season on March 8 in its 54th game of the campaign. Brad Lambert’s last-minute go-ahead marker also paved the path to Manitoba’s ninth win on home ice this season, matching the club’s mark for 2024-25 with still half the home schedule remaining.

Horns Up

Dylan Anhorn has come up big for the Moose in their time of need, with both Isaak Phillips and Elias Salomonsson on recall to the Winnipeg Jets. The Calgary, Alta. native has played 16 games in his second full season with the Moose, registering three points (1G, 2A), all of which have come in his past four contests. Anhorn has appeared in 65 games across three seasons with the Moose, recording 20 points (4G, 16A), including one game-winning goal.

Who's Trending?

Colby Barlow has been solid in his return to the Moose following the holiday break, picking up three points (1G, 2A) and a plus-four rating in his 10 games since the break. The rookie forward’s plus-four rating in January trails only Kale Clague for the team lead. He has 11 points (4G, 7A) in 38 AHL games. Barlow was the Winnipeg Jets’ first-round pick in 2023.
