The Manitoba Moose (11-21-1-1) host the Grand Rapids Griffins (22-12-3-1) for the first time this season tonight (7 p.m.). The Moose are coming off a pair of losses to Toronto over the weekend, while the Griffins have points in three consecutive games. The Moose are 11-3-0-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. This means all 11 of Manitoba’s wins have come when scoring first. A total of 10 different Moose skaters have recorded a ‘first goal” throughout the season. Parker Ford leads the pack with three, while Ben King, Dominic Toninato, and Kevin Conley each recorded two. Ford is one of 50 skaters AHL-wide to have recorded three or more game-opening goals this season.

The defenceman has recorded 14 shots through four games with the club this season, and holds the highest shots per game on the Moose roster. Coghlan’s six shots on goal in his Moose debut marked the most by a Manitoba defenceman this season, and the second-most by a Moose skater, behind a pair of seven-shot outings by Parker Ford and Nikita Chibrikov.

Mason Shaw recorded four shots on goal in Sunday’s contest against the Marlies. The Wainwright, Alta. product has recorded 24 multi-shot performances so far this season and is one of three Manitoba skaters to play in all the club’s 34 matchups. Shaw is currently second on the team with 15 points and seven goals on the campaign.
