The Manitoba Moose (18-14-3-0) close out their road trip against the Laval Rocket (22-12-1-2) on Saturday afternoon. The Moose bested the Rocket 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night, bringing them to .500 in the first five games of their road trip. They are 4-5-1-0 in their past 10. Laval’s loss was their third-consecutive, dropping their record to 5-3-1-1 in their past 10.

First of Many

Jacob Julien skated in his first career AHL game on Friday night in Laval. The London, Ont. native was a fifth round draft choice by the Winnipeg Jets in 2023. He made his professional debut with the Norfolk Admirals on Jan. 9 at Adirondack, registering a pair of shots. He again suited up for Norfolk on Jan. 10, before being reassigned to the Moose by the Jets on Jan. 12. Julien played 172 games in the OHL across three seasons with the London Knights, winning two OHL championships, and finishing his career with a Memorial Cup victory in 2025.

Honking the Anhorn

Dylan Anhorn made a big impact on Friday night, scoring Manitoba’s lone goal before they claimed a shootout victory. It was the Calgary, Alta. native’s first goal of the season, coming on his 12th shot of the campaign. Anhorn has skated in 13 games for the Moose in 2025-26, in which time the club holds a 10-2-1-0 record. In 2024-25, Anhorn scored 16 points (3G, 13A) in 47 contests. He has 18 points (4G, 14A) in 62 AHL appearances in his career.

Blueline Contributions

The Moose received significant contributions from their blueline through their six games in January. Kale Clague outright leads the Moose with five points (5A) in the month, while Ville Heinola follows close behind with four points (2G, 2A). Moose defenders have contributed 16 points (3G, 13A) to the offence, averaging 2.7 points per game by defencemen to start the month. In 2025-26, Manitoba’s back end has 69 combined points (14G, 55A), with 18 of those points (2G, 16A) belonging to Heinola, and a further 17 points (6G, 11A) owned by Clague. The Moose average 1.97 points per game out of their defence.

The Moose moved to a perfect 3-0 in the shootout this season with their 2-1 victory last night.
