The Manitoba Moose (11-19-1-1) are back on home ice tonight (7 p.m.) after an outstanding road trip to face off against the Toronto Marlies (18-10-2-3). The Moose posted a 4-0-1-0 record on their five-game trip, winning the final four games, and own the longest active point streak in the AHL The Moose are coming off a 1-0 victory in Grand Rapids, while Toronto dropped a 4-1 decision in Utica.

Dual Shutouts
Saturday, Jan. 11 marked the first time ever the Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets recorded shutout wins on the same day. Kaapo Kähkönen earned his first shutout of the season, and first as a Moose, while Moose alum Connor Hellebuyck picked up his sixth shutout of the season with the Jets. Kähkönen has recorded 14 career shutouts in the AHL, including a career-high seven shutouts in 34 starts with the Iowa Wild in 2019-20. He’s the first Moose goaltender to register a shutout this season. Hellebuyck leads the NHL with six shutouts. The Commerce, Mich. product recorded four shutouts as a member of the Moose during the 2015-16 season.
Winner, Winner
Parker Ford scored his first game-winning goal of the season in last weekend’s win over Grand Rapids. The Providence College alum led the Moose with seven game-winners during the 2023-24 season, and currently leads the club with eight goals this season. Ford recorded a goal in four of his past five appearances. The Wakefield, RI product is the only Manitoba skater to have recorded multiple power play and shorthanded goals this season. He is also one of 22 players league-wide to record multiple shorthanded goals. Ford is third on the Moose leaderboard in shots on goal, after co-leading the team in shots (172) as a rookie last season.
Dishing Defender
Dawson Barteaux recorded an assist in Saturday’s matchup against the Griffins. The Foxwarren, Man. product is currently riding a three-game point streak, with three assists in those games. This marks the longest point streak of Barteaux’s AHL career, and makes him one of just two Moose defenders to record a point streak of three or more games this season, alongside Dylan Anhorn. His eight assists this season rank fifth on the team. Barteaux is the only Moose defenceman to have played in at least 30 of the club’s first 32 contests.
New-Look Defence
The Moose received two additions to the blueline on Wednesday afternoon. The organization acquired Isaak Phillips via trade between the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks, in exchange for Dmitry Kuzmin. The Moose also added Dylan Coghlan via loan from the Jets. Phillips has posted 79 points (23G, 56A) in 199 career AHL games. He has eight points (1G, 7A) in 28 appearances with the Rockford IceHogs this season, as well as one goal in three NHL games with Chicago. Coghlan has played two games with the Moose this season, recording one goal and six shots. The defender also played six NHL games with Winnipeg. Coghlan owns 109 points (45G, 64A) in 194 AHL games.

Nikita Chibrikov recorded an assist on the game-winner in Saturday’s win over the Griffins. The Moscow, Russia product has recorded 18 points (7G, 11A) this season, and currently leads the Moose in scoring. Chibrikov is on a four-game point streak, his longest of the season, while tallying five points (2G, 3A) over that span.
