The Manitoba Moose (10-19-1-1) come to the end of a five-game road trip tonight as they rematch with the Grand Rapids Griffins (20-11-3-0) tonight (6 p.m. CT) at Van Andel Arena. The Moose hold a 3-0-1-0 record on the swing so far, capturing seven of a possible eight points. Ben King scored the winner on Manitoba's second power play goal of last night's contest as the Moose overcame the Griffins by a 3-2 score. Get That Man a Crown!
Ben King scored the game-winning goal against the Griffins on Friday night; his second goal in as many games. The Vernon, B.C. product has recorded four of his five goals this season in back-to-back fashion. He previously recorded goals in both games of Manitoba’s series against the Texas Stars in November. King also recorded an assist on Friday, marking his second multi-point game of the campaign. He has registered 10 points (5G, 5A) this season, and is sixth in goals on the team. King previously recorded 30 points (15G, 15A) as a rookie with the San Diego Gulls last season.
Back in Front
Nikita Chibrikov posted two points (1G, 1A) last night. The Russian winger has recorded 17 points (7G, 10A) this season, and currently leads the Moose in points. Friday’s performance marks this third multi-point outing of the season, and ninth of his AHL career. Chibrikov is currently riding a three-game point streak, matching a season high previously set from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1. The Winnipeg Jets second round draft pick previously recorded a career-high five-game streak with the Moose during the 2023-24 season. Chibrikov’s seven goals have him tied for first on the club, alongside Parker Ford and Mason Shaw.
Three in a Row
C.J. Suess recorded a power play goal in Friday’s win over Grand Rapids. Suess is currently riding a three-game point streak, his longest of the campaign. The Forest Lake, Minn. product has 10 points (6G, 4A) through the campaign, and is fourth on the Moose in goals. Suess is one of three Manitoba skaters to record multiple power play goals this season. He joins Parker Ford as the only skaters to have recorded both a power play and shorthanded goal. The veteran forward has recorded 135 points (71G, 64A) through his 311-game AHL career.
Keep ‘Em Coming
Dylan Anhorn recorded an assist in Friday’s win over the Griffins, extending his point streak to five games. It’s the longest streak by a Moose skater this season. The rookie defender has posted an assist in all five of those games, recording the third-longest assist streak by an AHL rookie defenceman this season. The former St. Cloud State captain has recorded 10 points (3G, 7A) with the Moose this season, and posted seven points (1G, 6A) over his past seven games. Anhorn is second among Moose defenceman in goals, assists, and points, and leads all Manitoba defenders in shots on goal. He’s also sixth among Moose skaters in assists, and tied for eighth in points.
