Coverage of today's matchup gets going at 5:45 p.m. CT on CJOB.com, the Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV on FloHockey. Action at Casey’s Centre begins at 6 p.m. CT.
Big Nights
The Moose hit the road for their final trip ahead of the holiday break on Wednesday, downing the Chicago Wolves 5-0. Five Manitoba skaters recorded multi-point efforts, the most in a game this season for the Moose. Walker Duehr (2G, 1A) and Samuel Fagemo (1G, 2A) picked up a trio of points each. The previous time Manitoba had two players record three points in a game was Feb. 9/25 against Iowa when Brad Lambert and Dylan Coghlan each tallied a trio. That Feb. 9 matchup against the Wild was also the previous time Manitoba had five multi-point players in a game. Wednesday was Duehr’s second three-point game of the campaign and his third multi-point game of the season, which is second on the Moose to Gustafsson’s four multi-point efforts.
Keeping it Rolling
In the six games since Thomas Milic was recalled by the Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba’s goaltending duo of Domenic DiVincentiis and Isaac Poulter has been strong, playing to a 4-2-0 record. DiVincentiis has seen the bulk of the workload in his sophomore season, starting five contests in that span. He owns a .931 save percentage and a 2.01 goals against average in those five starts, earning three victories. The most recent of which was a 30-save shutout performance on Wednesday. Poulter’s lone start came on Nov. 30, when he turned aside 28 shots en route to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Chicago Wolves at Canada Life Centre.
Home Road Cooking
Phil Di Giuseppe has been most comfortable on the road this season, scoring 11 points (5G, 6A) in 12 games away from Canada Life Centre. The 32-year-old leads the Moose with 42 shots in those contests, and owns a plus-three rating, the second highest on the club among forwards. Walker Duehr (4G, 10A), Brayden Yager (2G, 7A) and Samuel Fagemo (5G, 4A) round out the top four road point scorers for Manitoba. The Moose own a 7-4-1-0 record in unfriendly territory and have won each of their past five games as the visitors.
Trading Hands
The title of Manitoba’s leading scorer is a game of hot potato lately, with three different players claiming the role since pre-game on
Nov. 22. Going into Nov. 25’s meeting with the Belleville Senators, Phil Di Giuseppe led the Moose with 10 points (4G, 6A), before Walker Duehr tied him in that game, taking the lead on account of goals (6G, 4A). On Nov. 26, a two-point game from Mason Shaw catapulted him into the team lead with 12 points (4G, 8A), a position he held until Dec. 3. With a three point night, Duehr reclaimed the throne with 14 points (8G, 6A), while Samuel Fagemo (7G, 6A) and David Gustafsson (4G, 9A) moved into the top three behind him.
Who's Trending?
Brad Lambert is making things happen in his past five games with the Moose, picking up four points (1G, 3A) in that time. The Winnipeg Jets’ first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft is closing in on a pair of milestones. Lambert has played 148 games in the AHL, scoring 97 points (31G, 66A) in his career. He has played nine games with the Moose this season.
