Fast Facts: Moose vs. Belleville – Dec. 6

The Manitoba Moose (6-11-0-0) host the Belleville Senators (9-4-0-4) this evening (7 p.m.) as the Moose enter the final weekend of their six-game homestand. Manitoba looks to break out of a two-game losing skid while Belleville steps in on a two-game winning streak.

Doubled-Up

Defenceman Dmitry Kuzmin tallied a goal and an assist in the third period of Sunday’s game for the first multi-point outing of his AHL career. Kuzmin recorded the milestone in his 29th career AHL game The Kholstovo, Belarus native has all three points (1G, 2A) this season over his past four outings with Manitoba. With the multi-point effort, Kuzmin matched his offensive output from the previous season when he had three points (1G, 2A) in 18 AHL games. Kuzmin was a third round pick (82nd overall) of the Winnipeg Jets in 2021.

Turning Defence Into Offence

Along with Dmitry Kuzmin scoring in Sunday’s game, every defenceman in the Moose lineup recorded a shot on goal. It was the third time this season all six defenders tallied a shot on goal. The Moose defence combined for 19 shots on goal, the most in a game so far this season. Ashton Sautner and Dawson Barteaux led the way with five shots each. The five shots matched a career high for Sautner and his most since Oct. 13/17 when he previously tallied five shots. It also marked a new career high for Barteaux. Moose defencemen have combined for eight goals this season. Elias Salomonsson leads the group with three tallies on the campaign.

Taking Flight

Forward Brad Lambert received a call from the Winnipeg Jets this week, marking the second time in his career Lambert has been recalled by the NHL club. The Lahti, Finland export has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 16 games with the Moose this season, ranking second on the team in points and tied for the team lead in assists. Lambert recorded an assist when made his NHL debut with the Jets on April 18/24 against Vancouver. The centreman led the Moose with 55 points (21G, 34A) in 64 games during the 2023-24 campaign and was named to the 2024 AHL All-Rookie Team for his efforts.

Hold the Line

The Moose penalty kill continues to improve, turning aside 84.8 percent of opposition power plays over the past eight games. During that span the Moose killed off 28 of 33 power plays against. In four of the games the Moose successfully killed off four or more opportunities, including two games knocking off all five power play chances faced. Overall, the Moose penalty kill is operating at 79.1 percent on the season.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan recorded his first point as a member of the Moose with an assist on Dmitry Kuzmin’s third period goal on Sunday. The Calgary, Alta. product has 80 career points (34G, 46A) in 122 AHL contests, all but seven with the Ontario Reign. Anderson-Dolan joined the organization this summer, signing a two-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
