The Manitoba Moose (7-18-0-1) bring 2024 to a close this evening (4 p.m.) when they face off against the Texas Stars (16-11-1-0). It's a rematch of Sunday's bout that saw Texas come away with a 6-2 win. Mason Shaw and Ashton Sautner scored the Moose goals in the loss while Arttu Hyry notched a hat trick for Texas.

The Moose are set to face Texas in their final matchup of 2024; the 72nd game the club has played this year. Brad Lambert leads the team in scoring in 2024, putting up 44 points (13G, 31A) throughout the year. Former Moose Kristian Reichel led the team in goals through 2024, posting 19 goals through 44 games played. Parker Ford recorded 161 shots on goal throughout the year; the most of any Moose skater. Ford is also the only Moose player to have appear in all 71 games the club’s played so far this year. Thomas Milic led all Moose goalies with 20 wins over the calendar year. Manitoba holds a 29-38-2-2 record through 71 games in 2024.

Ashton Sautner recorded his first goal of the season against the Stars on Sunday afternoon. It was his first goal since Dec. 31/23, which was also scored against Texas. The veteran defender recorded a career-high five goals through the 2023-24 season, four of which were scored against the Stars. Sautner was tied for first on the club in goal-scoring against Texas that season. Six of Sautner’s past seven goals have been against Texas, dating back to the 2022-23 season. The Flin Flon, Man. product recorded his first career multi-goal game against Texas on Oct. 28/23.
Career Numbers
Dmitry Kuzmin recorded an assist in Sunday afternoon’s matchup against the Stars. The 2021 Winnipeg Jets third round pick also recorded three shots on goal, matching a season-high, previously set on Nov. 13 against the Milwaukee Admirals. Kuzmin has four points (1G, 3A) in 16 games with the Moose this season, surpassing his 2023-24 rookie total of three points (1G, 2A) in 18 games to set a new career high in points, and assists. Kuzmin is one of three Moose defencemen to record a multi-point game this season, alongside Dawson Barteaux and Elias Salomonsson.
Captain Gets the Call
The Winnipeg Jets recalled Moose captain Dominic Toninato on Monday afternoon. The Duluth, Minn. product recorded an assist in Manitoba’s previous matchup against the Stars, and currently leads the club with six goals. Toninato has appeared in 184 NHL contests to date, and recorded 35 points (13G, 22A). He registered five points (1G, 4A) in 15 games with the Jets last season. The former fifth-round pick has recorded 119 points (61G, 58A) through 220 AHL appearances. Toninato is the third Moose forward to be recalled by the Jets this season, alongside Brad Lambert and Nikita Chibrikov.

Mason Shaw scored his fifth goal of the season in the club’s matchup against Texas. The Wainwright, Alta. export has points (1G, 1A) in his past two appearances with the club. It’s the second time this season Shaw has recorded points in back-to-back games. The forward is tied for second on the team in goals and fourth with 11 points (5G, 6A).
