The Manitoba Moose (6-12-0-1) continue their road swing with a rematch against the Calgary Wranglers (17-5-1-0) tonight (8 p.m. CT) at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Moose ended up on the wrong side of a 6-1 score last night in Calgary. Rory Kerins and Dryden Hunt each had three points (1G, 2A) to lead the Wranglers, while Devin Cooley stopped 30 of 31 Manitoba shots. Parker Ford scored the lone Moose goal in the defeat. Coverage of tonight's clash of Canadian rivals begins at 7:45 p.m. CT, with puck drop slated for 8 p.m. on cjob.com/sports, the Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV on FloHockey.

Milestones

The Moose saw a pair of forwards hit milestones in Tuesday night’s matchup. C.J. Suess skated in his 300th AHL game and Parker Ford played his 100th contest. Suess has played 254 of his 300 matches in a Moose jersey; the most on Manitoba’s current roster, and is 21st all-time among Moose skaters. The Forest Lake, Minn. product has registered 69 goals and 131 points through his career. Ford becomes the second Moose to play in their 100th AHL contest this season, alongside Kevin Conley. The Wakefield, RI native has recorded 24 goals and 53 points in his 100 games.

Heating Up

Speaking of Ford, the winger scored his fourth goal of the season on Tuesday night, and his second in the past three games. The Providence College alum is tied for third on the Moose in goal-scoring and tied for fifth on the team with eight points (4G, 4A). Ford is also tied for third on the team in shots, after tying for the team lead during the
2023-24 season. He previously recorded 18 goals and 41 points as a rookie during the 2023-24 campaign. Ford notched the 12th-most goals by an AHL rookie that season.

Albertan Exports

Manitoba’s two-game stint in Calgary acts as a homecoming for five different players on the roster. Forwards Mason Shaw (Wainwright), Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Calgary), defencemen Dylan Anhorn (Calgary), Tyrel Bauer (Cochrane) were all born in Alberta. Defenceman Ashton Sautner was born in Manitoba, but grew up in Cochrane, Alta. The Moose have more skaters from Alberta on the roster than any other province. Shaw leads Manitoba’s Alberta-born group in scoring with three goals and seven points. Anhorn’s two goals rank fourth among all Alberta-born defencemen in the AHL. The Calgary product recorded his first assist of the season in Tuesday night’s contest. Moose assistant coach Morgan Klimchuk was also raised in Calgary, and played one game for the Flames.

Midweek Matchups

The Moose played their first Tuesday game of the season last night. The loss to Calgary and tonight’s contest represent just the third and fourth weekday games the Moose have appeared in, and the first two that weren’t ‘School Day Games’. The Moose will play 19 games from Monday-Thursday this season, including one more early 10:30 a.m. start on March 4. Manitoba holds a 1-2-0-0 record in mid-week games this season. Nikita Chibrikov (3A) (on recall) and Elias Salomonsson (2G, 1A) lead the Moose with three points each in weekday games.

Who's Trending?

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby has recorded an assist in each of his past two appearances. The Swedish forward owns eight helpers through Manitoba’s first 20 contests, and is tied for second on the roster in assists. Jonsson-Fjällby matched his career high of 18 assists last season, which was initially recorded with the Hershey Bears in 2021-22.
