The Journey West
The Moose are headed back on the road this week for a four-game swing. The hockey club has four of its six wins this season on opponent’s ice. This continues a trend from the 2023-24 season when the Moose posted a 20-15-0-1 record while away, in comparison to a 14-20-2-0 record on their own ice. Nikita Chibrikov currently leads the club in scoring on the road, registering eight points (1G, 7A) in away games. Dominic Toninato leads the club in goals on the road, netting four of his five tallies in enemy territory.
Roster Moves
It was a busy Monday for the Moose on the transaction wire. The Winnipeg Jets announced the team recalled forward Nikita Chibrikov from the Moose, while reassigning forward Brad Lambert to the team. Chibrikov currently leads the Moose 13 points (5G, 8A) through the club’s first 19 outings. His five goals have him tied for first on the Manitoba roster in goals, alongside Dominic Toninato. Chibrikov also leads the club with 61 shots on goal, and has recorded at least one shot in all 19 of his appearances. Lambert ranks third on the Moose with 11 points (3G, 8A) in 16 games. The Lahti, Finland product appeared in four games with the Jets during his recall, averaging 12:44 of ice time. The Moose also announced the team recalled defenceman Graham Sward from the Norfolk Admirals. Sward has four assists in 14 games with Norfolk this season.
Puck Stopper
Goaltender Thomas Milic made a season-high 32 saves in Saturday’s matchup against the Senators, including seven stops in overtime. The performance was just three saves short of his career-high of 35 saves, recorded twice in a two-week span during the 2023-24 season against the Grand Rapids Griffins (Feb. 10/24) and Calgary Wranglers (Feb. 23/24). The Coquitlam, B.C. product currently holds a record of 3-1-0-1 in appearances when he records 30+ saves. His outing on Saturday marks the third-most saves by a Moose goalie this season, behind two 35+ save performances by Domenic DiVincentiis.
B2B
Chaz Lucius scored his second goal in as many games on Saturday. This marks the first time in Lucius’ AHL career h recorded goals in back-to-back games. The Lawrence, Kan. product joins Dominic Toninato, C.J. Suess, Ben King, and Tyson Empey as the only Moose skaters to score in back-to-back games this season. Lucius has recorded five points (2G, 3A) through his five appearances with the club this season, and 23 points (6G, 17A) through 34 career games with the Moose.
Who's Trending?
Kevin Conley opened the scoring for Manitoba on Saturday with his second goal of the season. Conley is just one of two Moose skaters, alongside captain Dominic Toninato, to record multiple “first goals” through the club’s first 19 outings. Conley has appeared in 107 games through his AHL career, recording 12 goals and 23 points.
