Lu(c)(k)as Squared

The Moose had a pair of debuts on Saturday afternoon, with forward Lucas Wahlin and defenceman Lukas Gustafsson kicking off their professional careers. Wahlin registered his first professional assist in the game. He played 36 games for the University of St. Thomas this season, recording 39 points (21G, 18A). Wahlin, UST’s team captain since 2023-24, was recently named the 2025-26 CCHA Student-Athlete of the Year and CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year. Gustafsson finished his first game with an even rating. The defender notched 22 points (6G, 16A) in 36 games while captaining the Boston College Eagles this season. The Metairie, La. native was named to the 2026 Hockey East Third All-Star Team. Gustafsson totalled 72 points (14G, 58A) in 147 NCAA games with Boston College, capturing the Hockey East Championship in 2024.

Consequential Series

The Moose and Admirals meet on Tuesday and Wednesday for their final two matchups of the season, with heightened importance. The two squads continue to jockey for positioning in the Central Division standings, with the Moose presently holding a three-point edge for fourth place, which earns home-ice advantage in the First Round. Manitoba’s ‘magic number’ to clinch a postseason berth is just one point, while the Admirals’ is five points. The Moose hold a 2-3-1-0 record against Milwaukee this season, and are 1-1-0-0 on home ice against their in-division foes.

Here Goes Anhorn

Dylan Anhorn has brought the offence from the blue line over the past three games, recording three points (1G, 2A) in that span. The Calgary, Alta. native is up to 13 points (3G, 10A) through 39 games on the campaign, registering one game winning goal. Anhorn has skated in 88 games with the Moose across a trio of seasons, picking up 30 points (6G, 24A). The St. Cloud State alum has scored seven points (1G, 6A) in 19 games on home ice this season.

A Jumbled Bunch

Mason Shaw has maintained his grasp on Manitoba’s race to be the team’s leading scorer with 40 points (15G, 25A), but the race to get inside the top three has intensified. Samuel Fagemo, Phil Di Giuseppe, and David Gustafsson are all currently tied with 32 points, while Walker Duehr and Jaret Anderson-Dolan are trailing close behind with 31 points each. Now up to 29 points (9G, 20A) this season, Brayden Yager is inching closer, scoring four points (4A) over his past four contests. With seven games left to play, the Moose have 12 players who have scored 20 or more points, besting their 2024-25 mark by three skaters.

Colby Barlow is currently riding a two-game point streak, scoring a goal in Saturday’s contest. The Orillia, Ont. native has 12 points (4G, 8A) in 58 games in his rookie campaign, adding to the three points (1G, 1A) he posted in three games at the tail end of the 2023-24 season. Barlow was a first round pick by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2023 NHL Draft.
