True North Sports + Entertainment and the Manitoba Moose strives to put together teams filled with players whose talent is matched, if not exceeded, by their character. An integral part of that character is their commitment to our community. As a result, our players, sponsors, management, and staff work together throughout the season on various initiatives to improve and support those who support us each and every day. Manitoba Moose Community Relations is proud to be involved in the community through a variety of programs and events throughout the year. Please check back for more details about specific events.

BACKYARD RINK CONTEST

The Backyard Rink Contest, presented by Booster Juice, gives you the chance to claim the title of the best rink around and Moose players will stop by with Mick E. Moose to put on a party for you and your friends.

COMMUNITY PRACTICE SERIES

Teams participating in Minor Hockey Weekend have the chance to win an outdoor practice at Camp Manitou, led by Jets Hockey Development instructors and Manitoba Moose Players.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER

Join the Moose in their fight against cancer. The team’s annual Hockey Fights Cancer initiative empowers minor hockey teams to get involved and supports Camp Quality Manitoba.

STICK TO READING

Stick to Reading is a program designed to encourage and promote literacy to youth in our community. In an effort to celebrate I Love to Read Month, students and teachers from local schools can enter for their chance to win a visit from Manitoba Moose players.

CELEBRATING WOMEN IN SPORT JOB SHADOW PROGRAM

The Celebrating Women in Sport Job Shadow Program is a two-day initiative designed to introduce women to the diverse array of roles within the sports industry.

True North Sports + Entertainment Limited and the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club are dedicated to serving the community through a variety of interactive charity and community service programs.

MASCOT APPEARANCE REQUEST

To request an appearance by Mick E. Moose at your next event, fill out the Mascot Appearance Request Form. Appearance requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to your event.

MICK E. MOOS E

Born in Sandilands, Manitoba, Mick E. Moose began his professional mascot career at a very young age. As a young three-year-old yearling (young moose), Mick signed on with the newly formed Manitoba Moose, then playing with the International Hockey League (IHL) at the Winnipeg Arena.

SCOREBOARD MESSAGES

For a $50 donation to the True North Youth Foundation, your greeting will appear on the scoreboard at the beginning of the second intermission and include one of the four approved messages, a name and a year for birthdays or anniversaries.

TRUE NORTH YOUTH FOUNDATION

Collectively, our sports teams, our employees and venues support a range of activities and wellness programs focused on youth. Thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters of 50/50 and other fundraising initiatives, we are able to reach as many youth as we can in our community.

CAMP MANITOU

Camp Manitou is a summer camp and year-round outdoor recreation facility located five minutes outside of Winnipeg. With its forests, 2.6-acre lake, large grass playing field, and the Assiniboine River on three sides, this 39-acre oasis provides lots of space in which to enjoy nature.

PROJECT 11

Project 11 is an engaging cross-curricular prevention program targeting Manitoba’s English Language Arts and Physical Education/Health Education outcomes. Weekly lessons and daily activities have been designed to help support students and teachers in bringing mental health awareness, along with positive coping skills into their lives.

WINNIPEG JETS HOCKEY ACADEMY

The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy (WJHA) is a play-based program designed to increase school attendance as well as high school graduation rates in socially and economically challenged schools in Winnipeg.
