Match Up

Moose vs. Rampage:

Tonight the Manitoba Moose and San Antonio Rampage will close-out their four-game regular season set at the AT&T Center. After suffering a 4-0 shutout loss to the Rampage last night the Moose hold a 1-1-1-0 record against the Texas club so far this season. Historically Manitoba is 15-8-2-4 against San Antonio (5-8-1-1 on visiting ice). Guillaume Desbiens leads all Moose skaters with three points (2g, 1a) against the Rampage, while Mikkel Boedker leads his club with four points (3g, 1a) against the Moose.

Suffering a Shutout:

For the fourth time this season the Moose were shutout in a 4-0 decision against the San Antonio Rampage on Friday night. This is the second time in three games that the Moose have been held goalless , suffering their last shutout on February 20 against the Toronto Marlies. So far this season, Manitoba is 2-1-0-0 after a shutout loss. Manitoba is 2-1-0-0 after a shutout loss. Manitoba holds the second lowest goals-for in the North Division with 154. In their franchise history, the Moose have now been shutout a total of 54 times.

Up & Down:

The Manitoba Moose have been stuck in a win-lose pattern for their last eight games. Dating back to February 12 vs. Toronto (5-1W), the Moose have been back and forth, unable to get on any sort of streak. The last time the Moose earned back-to-back wins was a February 6 victory over San Antonio (4-3SOW) followed by a February 12 win over Toronto (5-1W). So far this season, the club is 6-13-0-2 after a win and 14-10-1-0 after a loss. If the streak continues to tonight, Manitoba can expect a win after dropping a 4-0 shutout loss last night.

Notes on the North:

After failing to earn two points last night, the Moose fell another two points behind the third place Abbotsford Heat. Manitoba currently sits in fourth in the North Division with 64 points -- now four points behind Abbotsford with 68 points after 62 games played. The Moose however, have one game in hand over the B.C. club. The second place Rochester Americans also hold 68 points but have played 61 games this campaign. The fifth place Monsters (59), sixth place Marlies (58) and seventh place Griffins (53) round out the bottom of the division. Hamilton remains secure in first place with 82 points.

Rough on the Road:

Tonight's game caps off Manitoba's seven game road tour -- the club's longest away stint this season. The trip started back on February 16 in Rochester with a stop at home after four games. Manitoba is an even 3-3--0 on this current trip and holds an overall 13-16-2-0 road record heading into tonight's contest.

Players To Watch

Tough-Guy Tommy:

Rough-and-tumble Moose forward Tommy Maxwell was handed a total of 20 penalty minutes in last night's 4-0 shutout loss to the Rampage. He now holds the record for most penalty minutes awarded to a single player in a single game. All 20 minutes were suffered in the third period, giving him the highest individual total for a single period as well. He currently leads his club with 191 penalty minutes on the season -- good enough for sixth in the AHL.

Streaks & Milestones:

  • Travis Ramsey and Marco Rosa are the only two Moose skaters who have had perfect attendance this season, playing in all 61 games so far.
  • Mike Keane is two points away from his 350th in Moose colours.
