Match Up
Moose vs. Aeros:
The Manitoba Moose are in Houston Thursday night to close-out their four game regular season series against the Aeros at the Toyota Center. After three clashes this season, the Moose are 1-2-0-0 against their West Division rivals this campaign (0-1-0-0 in Houston). Historically, Manitoba holds an 18-19-0-2 record when playing at the Toyota Center. Captain Mike Keane leads all Moose skaters with four points (2g, 2a) against the Aeros while Maxim Noreau also leads his club with four points (2g, 2a) against Manitoba. Heading into tonight the Moose are 5-4-1-0 in their last 10 games while the Aeros are 5-5-0-0 in their last 10 matches.
Shutdown & Shutout:
For the third time this season the Moose were shutout in a 0-2 decision against the Toronto Marlies on Saturday afternoon. The last time Manitoba was shutout by an opponent was back on November 6, 2009 against the Texas Stars (0-4L). So far this season Manitoba is 1-1-0-0 after a shutout loss. Manitoba holds the second lowest goals-for in the North Division with 151. The lowest in the division belongs to Toronto with 146 goals after 59 games. In their entire franchise history, the Moose have now been shutout a total of 53 times.
Wild, Wild West Division:
The Manitoba Moose will start their three-game set against West Division rivals Thursday night in Houston. They will then play a back-to-back set against the Rampage in San Antonio. So far this season, Manitoba is 10-8-3-0 against their opponents from the West. The last time the antler-squad faced a West Division rival was in a 4-3 shootout victory over San Antonio on February 6, 2010.
Shooting Gallery:
The Moose have been outshot in their past five games and hold a 2-3-0-0 record in those matches. In those handful of games they have been outshot 173-140 by their opponents. The last time the Moose outshot a competitor was on February 12 in a 5-1 win over Toronto (33-26).
Players To Watch
Solid on the Back-End:
After sitting out for the last seven games, goaltender Daren Machesney manned the pipes in Manitoba's 2-0 loss to the Marlies on Saturday afternoon. Despite the lack of offence, Machesney managed to hold strong in net, stopping 30 of 32 shots in his 12th loss this season. After 17 games played in antlers, the Hamilton, Ontario native has collected a 4-12-0 record, 3.12 goals against average and 0.898 save percentage.
All Good Things Come to an End:
By failing to earn a single goal in their latest matchup against Toronto, all Manitoba's individual point streaks have come to an end. Before the 0-2 loss, five Moose skaters were on individual point streak. Both Travis Ramsey and Nick Boynton saw their three-game point streaks come to a close after failing to produce any points on Saturday. Marco Rosa saw his five-game streak come to a halt but the centre still holds 10 points (5g, 5a) in his last six games. Dan Sexton ended his five-game streak but he still holds nine points (4g, 5a) in his past eight games. Finally, Michael Grabner's season-high five-game goal scoring streak comes to a close but his hot streak continues with seven points (6g, 1a) in his last six games.
Streaks & Milestones:
- Travis Ramsey and Marco Rosa are the only two Moose skaters who have had perfect attendance this season, playing in all 59 games so far.
- Mike Keane is three points away from his 350th in Moose colours.
- Marty Murray is playing in his 400th AHL game Thursday night.
- Nikita Kashirsky is suiting up for his 20th career AHL game tonight.

- Manitoba's leading scorer, Marco Rosa, played for Houston last season.
