Match Up

Moose vs. Marlies:

Saturday afternoon the Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies face-off for the sixth time this season. To date, Manitoba is 3-2-0-0 against the Marlies this campaign (0-1-0-0 on visiting ice). The Moose started strong against the Marlies, picking up three consecutive victories, but the Toronto club has won the last two contests heading into tonight. Historically Manitoba is 23-10-2-2 against the Maple Leafs' affiliate, 9-5-2-1 at Ricoh Coliseum. Goaltender Cory Schneider has appeared between the pipes for the handful of games this season for a 1.79 GAA and 0.935 save percentage.

Afternoon Delight:

On Saturday the Moose will embark on their fourth afternoon game this season. So far, Manitoba is 2-1-0-0 in daytime games after earning a 4-3 victory over Rockford (December 6), 3-2 win over Texas (December 31) and then suffering a 3-1 loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (January 31). The club plays a total of seven matinee contests this season with only one more being held at MTS Centre on March 21 vs. Grand Rapids (2:00PM).

Creeping Up:

After earning two points in last night's 4-3 victory over Rochester, Manitoba is only two point back of second place in the North Division with 62 points. The Amerks currently hold second with 64 points. Despite being so close to second, the Moose are still 16 points behind the first place Hamilton Bulldogs. The bottom half of the division is much tighter with the fourth place Abbotsford Heat sitting with 60 points and the fifth place Lake Erie Monsters with 58 points.

Players To Watch

He Keeps Going... And Going...

Michael Grabner's game-winner in last night's 4-3 victory over Rochester put him on a season-high five-game goal scoring streak. Grabner has hit the back of the net in every game dating back to February 12 where he scored twice against the Marlies and added an assist. The Villach, Austria native has earned seven points (6g, 1a) in his last five matches.

After 58 games played, the Scarborough, Ontario native leads the team in points (43), goals (19), assists (24), powerplay goals (6) and shots (151). If he earns a single point today, he will tie his season-high six-game points streak, which is also the team-record for the season, that occurred from October 2-14, 2009.

Dependable Dan:

Dan Sexton scored a powerplay goal last night to extend his points streak to five-consecutive games. In 12 games in antlers this season, Sexton has scored 12 points (5g, 11a) and collected two penalty minutes. He leads the club, along with Tom Galvin, in plus/minus with a plus-7 rating.

Rammer Earns First:

Defenceman Travis Ramsey earned his first goal this season in last night's 4-3 victory over Rochester. After appearing in all 58 Moose games this season the Lakewood, California native has collected 14 points (1g, 13a) along with 64 penalty minutes.
