Match Up

Moose vs. Americans:

Friday night, the Moose and Americans close-out their four-game regular season set at the Blue Cross Arena. So far this season Manitoba is 2-1-0-0 against Rochester, winning their most recent contest on February 16, 2010 by a 6-3 score. Historically, the Moose hold a 29-14-3-1 record against the Florida Panthers' affiliate (16-4-2-1 on visiting ice). Marco Rosa and Matt Pettinger lead all Moose skaters with three points each against the Americans while Cory Schneider has appeared in all three clashes against the club this campaign (2-1-0, 2.68 GAA, 0.916 SV%).

Tight in the North:

Friday night the Moose continue their four-game North Division road trip where they have gone 1-1-0-0 so far. Manitoba is currently tied with Abbotsford for third place in the North Division with 60 points. Rochester holds second spot but are only four points ahead of the third place pair, and Lake Erie is only four points back of third with two games in hand on both the Moose and Heat. With their 4-3 victory over the Moose last night, Toronto regained sixth place with 52 points while Grand Rapids sits in last with 51.

Players To Watch

Scoring Machine:

Moose sniper Michael Grabner hopes to keep his season-high four-game goal-scoring streak alive when he faces the Americans on Friday night. Grabner has hit the back of the net in every game dating back to February 12, where he scored twice against the Marlies and added an assist. The Villach, Austria native has earned six points (5g, 1a) in his last quartet of matches. If he scores on Friday, he will hold the longest goal-scoring streak of the season at five straight games.

Follow the Leader:

Moose centre Marco Rosa enters Friday's match-up on a four-game points streak after collecting eight points (5g, 3a) in his last four appearances. After 57 games played the Scarborough, Ontario native leads the team in points (41), goals (19), assists (22), powerplay goals (6), and shots (151). He is currently on pace to break his season-high six-game points streak, which is also the team-high for the season, that occurred from October 2-14, 2009.

Dan is the Man:

Dan Sexton's current four-game assist streak is tied for the club's longest this campaign. Sexton has collected five assists and scored one goal in his last four games. In 11 games in antlers his season, Sexton has scored 11 points (4g, 7a) and collected two penalty minutes. He leads the club, along with Mario Bliznak, in plus/minus with a +7 rating.

Production from the Blueline:

Blueliners Travis Ramsey, Nick Boynton and Nolan Baumgartner all enter Friday on a two-game points streak. Ramsey has collected back-to-back assists and currently holds 13 helpers after 57 games played. Boynton has played in four games with the Moose this campaign where he has recorded three assists. His first point in antlers came on February 16 and he has earned three since then. Baumgartner re-joined the Moose on February 15 after a stint in Vancouver and he has already collected four points (1g, 3a) in his two games back. Evan Oberg leads all current defenceman with 18 points (1g, 17a) so far this season.

Streaks & Milestones:

  • Travis Ramsey and Marco Rosa are the only two Moose skaters who have had perfect attendance this season, playing in all 57 games so far.
  • Lawrence Nycholat has collected eight points in his last seven games.
