Match Up

Moose vs. Wolves:

The Manitoba Moose and Chicago Wolves will close-out their four-game regular season series Saturday night at the Allstate Arena. So far this season the Moose have earned six of a possible six points against the Wolves holding a perfect 3-0-0-0 record against the club this season. Historically Manitoba holds a 20-13-3-3 record against the Wolves (10-7-2-0 when playing in Chicago). Moose skaters Sergei Shirokov and Marco Rosa lead the club in scoring against the Atlanta Thrashers' affiliate with three points each, while former Moose Jason Krog sits atop the Wolves leaderboard with 20 points in 18 games played this season.

Waving Farewell to the Wolves:

Saturday's game wraps up Manitoba's four-game regular season set against the Wolves this season -- their first series closing game of 2009-10. After registering back-to-back-to-back wins over the Wolves (October 9, 4-1W; October 10, 2-1W; October 23, 1-0SOW), the Moose look to sweep the Chicago club Saturday night. In 2008-09 the Moose were 11-4-1-0 in series closing games and finished 2-2-0-0 against the Wolves. The club still managed to sweep three regular season sets against the Houston Aeros, Lake Erie Monsters and Peoria Rivermen.

Notes on November:

Saturday's game vs. Chicago will mark the 12th and final game of November for Manitoba. So far this month, the Moose are 4-5-2-0 for 10 of a possible 24 points. Last season, the Moose finished the 11th month with a 9-2-0-0 record for their best-ever November in club history. If the Moose drop tonight's game, the will fall below .500 in November for the first time ever since the club joined the AHL in 2001-02. Last season the Moose finished the 11th month with a 9-2-0-0 record for their best-ever November in club history.

Unfruitful Forty Minutes:

For the fourth time this season, the Moose and their opponent both failed to score a goal in the opening 40 minutes of play. Last night, the Moose and Rivermen carried a 0-0 tie heading into the third period, but the Rivermen prevailed in the overtime to record a 2-1 victory. The Moose are 2-1-1-0 when heading into the final frame scoreless.

Offensive Woes Return:

For the first time in five games the Moose failed to notch more than one goal in 60 minutes of play. Earlier in the season, the club went seven games where they failed to score more than one goal per game (October 29-November 7). In their last five games, prior to last night, the Moose score d 19 goals -- earning nine of a possible 10 points. Contributing to their lack of offence was their shot count. For the fourth straight game the Moose were outshot. Last night's tally was 22-33 by the Rivermen.
