Match Up

Moose vs. IceHogs:

On Wednesday night the Moose are visiting the Rockford IceHogs for the first of two away games against the club this season. Last season the Moose finished 1-1-0-2 against the IceHogs, bringing their all-time record against the Chicago Blackhawks' affiliate to 3-3--2 (2-1-0-1 at MetroCentre). Both club's suffered an overtime loss in their last match-up and will be looking to break their losing skid in Wednesday's contest. Former Moose Mark Cullen sits atop Rockford's leaderboard with 19 points so far this season (9g, 10a). Nolan Baumgartner and Guillaume Desbiens each earned two points against the IceHogs last season -- putting them second on Manitoba's leaderboard against the Rockford club last campaign.

Back In Black:

The Moose are set to embark on their third road trip this season, starting Wednesday with their opening battle against Rockford. The team will then face-off against Peoria on Saturday and close-out their road tour with their last regular season game against Chicago. Manitoba currently holds a 3-5-1-0 away record this season and suffered three consecutive losses during their last three-game trip. When on the road, the Moose sit in 20th place overall on the powerplay leaderboard. (12.5 percent) and 8th place overall on the penalty killing leaderboard (87.2 percent).

Four Period Flop:

The Moose dropped their third overtime game this season on Saturday night when P.K. Subban notched a goal in the fourth period to confirm a 5-4 win for the Bulldogs. The loss brought Manitoba's overtime record to 1-3 this season. The last time Manitoba won in overtime was on October 19th when the club earned a 2-1 four period win over Hamilton.

One For The Powerplay:

The Moose put an end to their eight-game powerplay scoring drought on Saturday night when they went one-for-seven against the Bulldogs. So far this season the antler squad has scored 10 powerplay markers on 102 opportunities. They sit 27th out of 29 teams on the league leaderboard at 10.8 percent.

The Big Picture:

The Manitoba Moose currently sit third in the North Division with 25 points. The Bulldogs are in second with 26 points -- only one point ahead of manitoba but with four games in hand against the club. The Rochester Americans lead the division with 29 points, and only two regulation losses so far in their 17 games played. The Moose are headed into a three game road set with the West (Rockford, Peoria, Chicago) -- a division they hold a 4-4-1-0 record against so far this season.

Players To Watch

Sergei Streaks:

Rookie sniper Sergei Shirokov is going into Wednesday's game on a four-game goal streak as well as a two-game multi-point streak. The Moscow, Russia native earned both a goal and an assist in Manitoba's last two games against Hamilton. He currently leads the team with 17 points and nine goals.

Mr. Helper:

After notching two assists in Saturday's overtime loss to the Bulldogs, rookie defenceman Evan Oberg leads his club in assists with nine. He has earned three helpers in his past two games. He sits fourth on the team leaderboard with his nine assists.

Instant Impact:

Erik Christensen has only been with the Moose for two games, but he has managed to find the back of the net on both nights. The Edmonton, Alberta native, who is on loan from the Anaheim Ducks, has scored in each contest he has appeared in with the Moose and enters Wednesday's game on a two-game goal scoring streak.
