THE NHL's Vancouver Canucks now have two Big Macs from Manitoba on their roster.
The Canucks, suffering with more injuries to their defensive corps, recalled rearguard Nathan McIver from the AHL's Manitoba Moose to be on hand for their home game Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars. Both Lukas Krajicek and Willie Mitchell missed practice Monday with hurts.
McIver, 23, joined Moose goaltender Drew MacIntyre on the West Coast.
MacIntyre spent all morning travelling from Binghamton, N.Y., to Vancouver following his 15-save performance -- and three more stops in the shootout -- to help the Canadian All-stars beat Planet USA 9-8 in Monday night's AHL All-Star Classic.
MacIntyre, 25, has appeared in one game this season with the Canucks, stopping nine of 11 shots in 40 minutes of play at Anaheim versus the Ducks.
He's ninth in the AHL with a goals-against-average of 2.30 and is fourth in the league with a save percentage of .923.
MacIntyre has a record of 16-11-1 in 28 games with one shutout and was expected to back up Canucks' second-string goalie Curtis Sanford, who was likely to start in place of No. 1 man Roberto Luongo.
Luongo was given an extra day off following the NHL all-star break to spend time with his family.
McIver has appeared in three games with the Canucks this season. Both he and MacIntyre are from Prince Edward Island.
