Needing Extra Time: The Moose have now required an extra period in three of their last five games and four of their
last seven. The Moose have two shootout wins and two overtime losses in their last four games requiring extra time. Manitoba has
also gone into overtime in five of their last 11 road games.
Schultz the Playmaker: With assists on two first period goals in Saturday night’s 4-3 shootout win over Iowa, Moose
forward Jesse Schultz has gone from finisher to set-up man of late with six assists in his last six games. Schultz recorded only
one assist in his previous 13 games. The Strasbourg, Saskatchewan native continues to lead the team in scoring with 29 goals and
21 assists for 50 points, and sits third on the team in assists behind Jason Jaffray and Craig Darby. Schultz had a five-game
scoring streak snapped in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Iowa.
An End to King's Reign: After being kept off the scoresheet in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Iowa, Moose forward Jason King
saw his eight-game scoring streak come to an end. King's eight-game streak is the longest by any Moose player this season, two
more than Alexandre Burrows' six-game streak recorded in late October. During those eight games, King scored six goals and added
four helpers for 10 points.

The Manitoba Moose had a busy week on the road with eight games away from the MTS Centre, including four games in five nights
against three different opponents. Things started well for the Moose as they came out of Chicago with a 5-2 win on Wednesday
night. The Moose then headed into Omaha on Friday night where they fought back from a third-period deficit for a single point in
a 3-2 overtime loss. Saturday and Sunday saw back-to-back games in Des Moines, Iowa as the Moose looked to complete a season
sweep of the Iowa Stars. Lee Goren and Josh Green were the only two players to score in the shootout, leading the Moose to a 4-3
win on Saturday night. Both teams showed signs of fatigue in Sunday's game as the Moose were unable to complete the sweep, losing
3-1 to finish off the weekend.
Manitoba will now return home for a couple of practices at the MTS Centre before heading back on the road for three games in
three nights against North Division opponents, starting Friday night in Hamilton.

 Manitoba will begin the second leg of their eight-game road trip on Friday night in Hamilton. The Bulldogs have been playing
well of late with a 7-3-0 record in their last 10 games. They currently sit fifth in the North Division with a 28-34-0-3 record
for 59 points in 65 games played. Hamilton's special teams have struggled this year with neither their powerplay no penalty
killing found in the league's top 20. The Bulldogs powerplay has been slightly better than their penalty kill, ranking 21st in
the AHL with a 15.8% scoring rate. Their penalty kill is 24th best in the league with an 80.1% efficiency rate. The Moose will
look to break a growing trend that sees them with just one win in their last 12 games at Copps Coliseum.

 THe Moose will continue the North Division swing to their road trip with a Saturday night game against the struggling Rochester
Americans. The Amerks have recorded only one win in their last ten games and have now dropped all the way down to sixth in the
North with a 27-30-2-2 record. Rochester's powerplay continues to shine scoring 19.9% of the time, good enough for third in the
AHL. The Amerk's penalty kill has been average, sitting 17th in the league with an 82.0% efficiency rate.

 Manitoba will conclude the weekend at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto against the Marlies. Toronto currently sits fourth in the
North with a 32-23-4-2 record for 70 points in 61 games. The Marlies' powerplay is decent scoring 18.8% of the time and ranking
10th in the AHL. Their penalty kill sits 20th in the league with an 81.5% kill rating.

 For the second time in three weeks, winger Lee Goren has been nominated as Manitoba's player of the week.
Goren appeared in all four games for the Moose this week. On Wednesday, he collected his 10th goal of the season and added an
assist. He added two more goals in the week, including the only Moose goal in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to the Iowa Stars. As a result,
Goren scored three goals and five points in the four games, fired 20 shots on net and finished the week even in the plus/minus
category. He is also on a four-game points streak. Overall, Goren now has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points in 26 games
played since his return from the Vancouver Canucks on Dec. 30/05. |
