Moose Notes

THIS WEEK'S THREE-PEAT: Manitoba notched three wins in a row over the Rochester Americans in Week 2, earning their first win-streak of the 07-08 season. Last season, the Moose set a new franchise record for consecutive home wins with nine between Feb. 3 - Mar. 10/07. The Moose also came within one game of tying the club record for most outright wins in a row, which was set at 10 games from Oct. 18 - Nov. 17/00. The Moose won three or more consecutive games six times throughout 2006-07.

SKATER STREAKS: Five Manitoba Moose players have tallied points in two-or-more consecutive games heading into Thursday's matchup vs. Rockford. Leading the pack are Jozef Balej (with three goals and four assists in five consecutive games) and Colby Genoway (with four goals and three assists in four consecutive games). Pierre-Cedric Labrie has also posted a goal and assist in his past two games (the first pro points of his career), while Mike Brown (1g + 1a) and Alexandre Bolduc (1g + 2a) also have points in the past two games.

FIRSTS FOR THE YOUNG FOLKS: Week 2 was a memorable one for Manitoba rookies, as two first-year players posted their first professional points, and rookie goaltender Cory Schneider earned his first win (6-5 SOW Oct. 19 @ ROC). The skaters who scored their firsts were Pierre-Cedric Labrie (with two goals and two assists in this weekend's two afternoon games) and Juraj Simek (with one goal Oct. 17 vs. ROC and one assist Oct. 19 @ ROC). Rookies Luc Bourdon (1g + 1a), Mason Raymond (1g + 1a), and Michael Grabner (2g + 2a) also made impressive offensive contributions this past week.

GO FOR GOALS: After totalling six goals in the first three games of the season, the Moose more than tripled their goal production in their last four games, scoring 21 goals vs. their opponent's 12. Starting with a 7-1 victory over Rochester Oct. 17, the Moose scored six goals vs. the Amerks Friday night, three goals in Toronto on Saturday, and five goals on the Bulldogs Sunday. Twelve different players contributed goals in Week 2.
