Manitoba Moose

So it hasn’t been that long has it? Since the hockey season ended? I keep replaying the Moose final game against Hershey and the one thing I see is not the loss but the Bears picking up the Calder Cup. Then I realize that even though they didn’t win, the Moose gave me something that I have never experienced in MY life. A CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL! I was too young to remember the WHA days and if you didn’t know by now, the NHL team never made it that far either. The more I think about it the more I realize that as a hockey fan, the Moose gave me something special this year to not only remember but to talk about for the next season! Will they get back, can they get back and the  what ifs! Let’s face it, the Moose did FAN-tastic this year and if you were at a game in the playoffs you should be sold for next season.

The Moose were beat by a better team that night. They did not let us make a mistake. That’s what it takes to be a champion and that is what Hershey did. Let’s not take a negative against the Moose but a positive that they took a championship franchise who has a ton of Calder experience and made them work for it. Look at the Penguins! Perhaps the Moose will meet the Bears again next year in the final and will come away with the cup? For now Pennsylvania is “king” of the sports world. The Steelers, Penguins and now the Bears have all the trophies.

I would like to thank the Manitoba Moose hockey club and all the staff who worked hard to bring us the best hockey we’ve had in the last 20 years. A few personal thanks go out to Barrett Paulsen and  Scott Brown for always making time for an interview at any time of the day and getting the players to chat with us. I know people say it is their job to do that but they went above the call of duty at times and it is greatly appreciated. Dave Blackmore from the Off the Rack store for trusting me with a jersey or two for interviews and any other silly outfit we could come up with! Thanks to the team for a great season and just in case you were wondering it’s approximately 100 days until the start of the ‘09 season!
