50/50 Raffle Policies & Procedures

The following are the duties and responsibilities for all participating teams:
  1. Each team that runs a game is responsible to provide 12 selling teams of two (24 sellers) plus a coach and/or supervisor. NOTE: Children under 12 are required to have one adult supervisor per child and will be paired up as one team.
  2. A list of all participating players and adults is required on the attached form a minimum of 7 days prior to each game. It can be faxed to the True North Sports & Entertainment Limited/Manitoba Moose Hockey Club office at 926-5555 (Attention: Mike Labay).
  3. All teams must meet at the North West Staff Entrance of MTS Centre (beside the “Off the Rack” Moose store) located at the corner of Hargrave & Portage one hour and 45 minutes prior to game time. Teams will enter the security entrance on a pass list, please state your team name and purpose to security staff to gain entrance. Teams will be met at the security entrance by the 50/50 Coordinator, and will then proceed to the designated area for the 50/50 draw. Note: Team jerseys are to be worn by each player
    i.e. Game time 7:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.
    Meet the 50/50 Coordinator at the security entrance no later than 5:45 p.m., and she will take the team to the 50/50 Raffle room. Please be on time!
  4. Teams are responsible for their own parking.
  5. Once the team has assembled at the 50/50 designated area, the 50/50 Coordinator will outline all duties and responsibilities for the 50/50 Raffle. Selling will began one hour before game time when the doors open to spectators. After the game starts, sellers will return to the 50/50 room. Teams will then sell throughout the 1st and 2nd intermissions, but after each intermission sellers must report back to the 50/50 Raffle room at event level. Please note: Due to the demand for seating at the MTS Centre, teams will no longer be provided with tickets to watch the game.
  6. For security reasons, it is pertinent that one adult from the team stay in the room with the 50/50 Coordinator at all times. The Coordinator will be available throughout the game to answer any questions a team may have and will ensure that the 50/50 Raffle runs smoothly.
  7. 50/50 tickets are sold for $2.00 each, so based on a single ticket the proceeds breakout as follows:
    • $1.00 goes to the 50/50 winner
    • 65 cents goes to the Yearling Foundation (less a $50 Coordinator fee and printing costs incurred for 50/50 raffle tickets). Please note: The Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation is the charitable arm of the hockey club and supports a variety of children’s charities in Manitoba.
    • 35 cents goes to the minor hockey team selling that night (less any cash shortage and a $50 Coordinator fee)

    * On average, team revenue can range from $1,000 to $1,200 per game.
  8. Individual team cheques will be mailed from Hockey Manitoba. Cheques can be expected within a three week period from your game date.
  9. If for some unforeseen reason, a team is unable to attend or needs to make changes to the team list, you are asked to please contact Mike Labay at (204) 926-5526, so other arrangements can be made if required.
50/50 Raffle Job Descriptions

Manitoba Moose 50/50 Coordinator

The 50/50 Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Arrive 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start of the game
  • Confirm the float and ticket count with the Manitoba Moose Representative
  • Count and record the sales receipts
  • Identify Team Leader and explain their responsibilities to them.
  • Explain the procedures and details to the Team sellers, coaches and managers
  • Ensure the tickets are available for purchase through to the end of the 2nd intermission
  • General supervision of coaches, players and managers selling 50/50 tickets and programs.
Team Coaches and Managers

Team Coaches and Managers will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure that the Team arrives 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start of the game
  • Ensure 1 person (the same person) remains in the sales room at all times until the end of the sales evening.
  • Confirm the float and ticket count with the 50/50 Coordinator
  • Confirm the recorded sales receipts with the 50/50 Coordinator
  • Explain the procedures and details to the ticket sellers (direction from 50/50 Coordinator)
  • Supervise and be accountable for the actions of every member of your Team
  • Ensure that the sellers return to the 50/50 Raffle room when they are not selling tickets (this area is TBD by the 50/50 Coordinator)
  • Ensure that tickets are available for purchase through to the end of the 2nd intermission
  • Ensure that the team (players/ticket sellers) are not eating or drinking while selling tickets. NOTE: Consumption of alcohol by the sellers will not be permitted at any time.
