Mirroring Team Canada's 3-2 victory over Team Sweden at the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championships, the Canada-clad Manitoba Moose defeated the Rochester Americans 3-2 Saturday night. The victory extended Manitoba's winning streak to four games overall and nine games vs. Rochester dating back to last season.

First Period

Only 14 seconds after the opening face-off, Rochester's Tanner Glass received the first penalty of the game, offering the Moose an early powerplay. After setting up on the point, Manitoba's Luc Bourdon slapped home the first goal of the game for the second night in a row, giving the Team Canada-styled Moose an early 1-0 lead.

Less than 90 seconds later and on the home team's second shot on Adam Dennis, Captain Mike Keane put the Moose up 2-0 and within two points of his 600th professional point.

A coughed-up puck in the neutral zone provided Moose forward Alexandre Bolduc with his first good scoring opportunity. #49 bounced the puck off Dennis and into the net to give Manitoba a 3-0 lead near the halfway point of the first period.

Back-to-back Moose penalties soon offered the Americans their first powerplays and a 24-second two-man advantage. Though the visitors extended their shot count to 10 vs. Manitoba's five, Rochester failed to get past Cory Schneider and went 0-for-2 on the powerplay.

After 20 minutes of play, the Moose trailed seven shots but carried a 3-0 lead into the second period.

Second Period

A goaltending change for Rochester put Tyler Plante between the visiting pipes to start the second. As the period progressed, the Americans continued to dominate the shot-count but failed to solve Schneider, tallying nearly 20 shots to Manitoba's seven with eight minutes on the clock.

The Moose and Amerks traded powerplays through the remainder of the second, but with no additional scoring, the Moose stayed up 3-0 at the second intermission.

Third Period

In the first half of the third, a pushing match in the Moose zone resulted in the Americans' fifth powerplay of the game. 43 seconds into the man-advantage, Stefan Meyer redirected Mike Weber's initial shot into the Moose net, putting Rochester on the board and down by two.

As the Americans broke the 30-shot mark, Meyer continued the club's comeback attempt. By snapping up his own rebound and sliding it past Schneider's right pad, the winger put Rochester within one goal with five minutes left to play.

Although the Amerks pulled Plante for the game's final 90-seconds, Manitoba held on through six-on-five play and extended their win-streak to four games with a 3-2 Saturday night victory.
