Completing a come-back and avenging Friday's 4-0 shutout loss, the Manitoba Moose beat the Iowa Stars 4-3 Tuesday night. Drew MacIntyre made 39 saves for his ninth win in 11 starts, while Jason Jaffray and Brad Moran led all skaters with two points each for first and second stars respectively.

First Period

Looking for his second consecutive victory, Drew MacIntyre backstopped Manitoba's battle with the Stars. At the opposite end of the ice and having yet to allow a Moose goal this season, Tobias Stephan manned the net for Iowa.

Two minutes into the first, Manitoba tested Stephan on the first five-on-four of the game, but the single shot didn't make it through to the back of the net. A Stars powerplay near the five-minute mark also failed to result in a goal, however the home team made it happen during five-on-five play. Robbing Jimmy Sharrow of the puck behind the Moose net, Iowa's B.J. Crombeen snapped it past MacIntyre to score the first goal of the game.

Eager for the equalizer, Manitoba forced the play back in the Iowa zone less than two minutes later, and Jannik Hansen found a crack in Stephan's armour to score Manitoba's first goal in two games vs. the Stars.

After 20 minutes, the Moose trailed the Stars 9-7 in shots but were neck-and-neck on the scoreboard with one goal apiece.

Second Period

1:32 into the second period, former Moose captain Nolan Baumgartner was dealt two minutes for cross-checking and Manitoba benefited from their second man-advantage of the game. This time, they made it count. While cycling along the right wing back up to the point, Colby Genoway slipped a quick pass to Jason Jaffray at the bottom of the circle who fired a sharp-angle shot into the Stars net to put the Moose up 2-1.

Manitoba's one-goal lead wouldn't last, however, as a Paul Szczechura slap-shot smoked MacIntyre and tied the game 2-2 just under six minutes into the middle frame.

The back and forth continued through the period. At the 15-minute mark, Brad Moran slid out from behind the home net and backhanded the puck to Michael Grabner at the crease. The Moose rookie then slipped the puck past Stephan to score Manitoba's second go-ahead goal of the game.

Despite trailing 28 shots to 16, the Moose held their 3-2 lead through the end of the second period.

Third Period

An unassuming play one minute into the third resulted in the game-tying goal for Iowa. With both boxes occupied and during four-on-four play, Stars forward Junior Lessard approached three Moose skaters in the Manitoba zone and tapped the puck under MacIntyre's right pad as he descended to make the stop. The shot was Iowa's 29th of the game and evened the score at three.

But a home-zone face-off would result in Manitoba's third lead of the game, as Jaffray pounced on a just-dropped puck and pulled the trigger for his second of the game at 6:34.

As the Stars hit the 40-shot mark with under four minutes left on the clock, MacIntyre and the Moose skaters did their best to protect a one-goal lead. In the end, six Stars skaters couldn't force extra time and Manitoba closed out their seven-game road trip with a 4-3 victory over Iowa Tuesday night.
