Moose rookie Mason Raymond scored his first professional hat-trick and added two assists for five points in Manitoba's 5-3 victory over the Americans in Rochester Wednesday night. The victory extends Manitoba's win-streak to five games and marks the club's fourth straight win vs. Rochester this season.

First Period

Manitoba started Wednesday night's divisional battle with Drew MacIntyre in net, opposite Americans netminder Adam Dennis.

The Moose ensured Dennis wouldn't have an easy start, as rookie Mason Raymond fired the first shot of the game into the home net a mere 95 seconds into the game -- marking Manitoba's quickest goal of the season. An interference penalty to veteran blueliner Danny Groulx gave the Americans an early man-advantage, but the Moose stifled Rochester's powerplay and maintained their one-goal lead.

15 minutes and three powerplays later, a Moose man-advantage resulted in the second goal of the game. Poised at the corner of Dennis' crease, Colby Genoway snapped up Raymond's rebound and sent the puck sailing into a wide open Amerks net. The goal put the Moose up 2-0 (14-6 in shots) after 20 minutes of play.

Second Period

Starting the second period on the penalty kill thanks to an interference penalty to Raymond, Manitoba took a second penalty 36-seconds in, providing Rochester with a two-man-advantage for just under one minute. As Raymond's penalty passed, the rookie bolted out of the penalty box, received a pass from Alexandre Bolduc, and broke away from the Amerks defenders to beat Dennis shorthanded and put the Moose up 3-0.

Eager to narrow the gap in front of a hometown crowd, Rochester's Anthony Stewart flew up the left wing and fired from the face-off circle, beating MacIntyre for the first time at 5:34.

Taking an interference penalty near the period's midway point, Stewart then gave Manitoba their fourth powerplay of the game. Though the visitors couldn't make it happen on the man-advantage, Raymond continued to sink the puck, scoring his third goal of the game to notch his first professional hat-trick, set a new club record for most points (four) in a single game this season, and post the first multi-goal game of any Moose player in 07-08.

Though the Americans out-shot the Moose 11-8 in the second period, Manitoba carried a 4-1 lead into the third.

Third Period

Manitoba looked hungry for more scoring in the early minutes of the third, and despite a flurry of activity in front of Dennis' net, a disallowed Moose powerplay goal kept the Amerks within three. The three-goal lead didn't last, however, as a second Rochester penalty soon gave the Moose a short five-on-three and their fifth goal of the game courtesy of Greg Classen. Earning a helper on the play, Raymond pushed his point total to five.

1:30 later, a sprawling and stretching MacIntyre struggled to control the puck on the PK and Rob Globke took advantage of the scene to fire home Rochester's 20th shot of the game and set the score at 5-2.

A hard hit to Jason Jaffray fired up the Moose line-up, and fights between Mike Keane and Mike Weber, and then Nathan McIver and Mark Mancari, marked the midway point of the period.

After a few minutes of back-and-forth play, the Americans inched closer to Manitoba's five goals, as Globke fed a short pass to Stefan Meyer who snapped it past MacIntyre for Rochester's third goal of the game.

Opting for the extra attacker in the final minutes of the game, Rochester pressed to even the score but failed to stop the surging Moose as Manitoba extended their win-streak to five games with a 5-3 victory.
