In the first-ever meeting between both clubs, the Manitoba Moose defeated the Quad City Flames 3-2 in a shootout on Halloween night. Drew MacIntyre stopped 30 shots for his second consecutive win, while Moose rookie Juraj Simek scored the game-winner on the 16th shootout shot.

First Period
The hometown Flames took an early shot lead, testing MacIntyre's reflexes in his second consecutive start. Looking to continue their two-game 100% penalty-killing streak, Manitoba fought off Quad City's first -- and second -- powerplay of the game, including a 40-second five-on-three when Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Shaun Heshka shared time in the box.
After colliding with goalie Curtis McElhinney behind the home net, Alexandre Bolduc was dealt Manitoba's third penalty of the game at 12:25. Feisty forward Mike Brown soon evened the odds, however, as he drew a Flames hooking penalty while surging down the ice shorthanded.
Two more Quad City powerplays kept Moose penalty-killers hopping, but Manitoba held tight through the first period and forced a scoreless opening 20 minutes.
Second Period
With Nathan McIver serving an interference penalty to start the second period, Quad City's powerplay finally connected. Winnipeg-born Dustin Boyd netted the first goal of the game less than a minute after the period's opening face-off, and the Flames assumed a 1-0 lead.
Exciting scoring chances showcased Manitoba's renewed intensity, but the Moose failed to crack McElhinney -- or a stubborn cross-bar -- and remained goalless after 11 shots. The Flames, by comparison, more than doubled Manitoba's scoring chances, registering 23 shots after two periods of play.
Third Period
The neutral zone saw plenty of action in the early minutes of the third, as both the Moose and Flames scrambled for control of the play. Manitoba got a break at 12:45 when Tomi Maki was dealt a high-sticking minor, offering the Moose their second powerplay of the game.
Though the Moose failed to score on the man-advantage, Alexandre Bolduc eventually put the puck where it counts, defeating McElhinney to tie the game at one.
But the tie-game would last only 47 seconds. Storming the Moose zone just past the period's halfway point, Flames centerman Warren Peters notched his first of the season to restore Quad City's one-goal lead.
A 17-second two-man advantage soon gave Manitoba's powerplay another chance to tie it up, and Colby Genoway didn't let the oppotunity go to waste. Pulling the trigger soon after a corner faceoff, #29 scored his fifth of the season with two minutes left in the game.
Overtime
Extra time came quickly after Genoway's game-tying goal. As the Flames shot past the 30-shot mark, the Moose battled hard for the come-from behind win. A handful of penalties gave Manitoba their final powerplay, and though the club posted five overtime shots to Quad City's three, McElhinney stayed crisp and forced a shootout.
16 shots later, Moose rookie Juraj Simek scored the game-winner, securing a 3-2 shootout victory for the visiting Moose.
