Youth beat experience Friday night as Moose goaltenders past and present battled at opposite ends of the MTS Centre ice. Backed by strong goaltending from Drew MacIntyre, Manitoba defeated Wade Flaherty and the rest of the Rockford IceHogs 3-2. Luc Bourdon, Greg Classen, and Mike Keane scored for Manitoba, while Bryan Bickell and Jake Dowell posted goals for visiting Rockford.

First Period
Playing his fourth game in net since hanging up his Moose jersey at the end of the 06-07 season, veteran goaltender Wade Flaherty manned the crease for Rockford. 24-year-old Drew MacIntyre occupied the paint at the opposite end of the ice.
Although the Moose were desperately seeking vengeance for Thursday night's loss, the visitors hit the scoreboard first thanks to a slick pass from Martin St.Pierre and corresponding shot from Bryan Bickell.
Down a goal at the period's halfway point, Moose tempers flared when Jozef Balej was hammered into the boards near the IceHogs bench. A pair of fights erupted in response, with Pierre-Cedric Labrie battling Rockford's bruiser Dustin Byfuglien, and Mike Brown taking on Jerramie Domish. At the end of the melee, Brown and Domish received game misconducts for the secondary altercation and Rockford netted a powerplay thanks to Labrie's instigating minor.
By the end of the first, 12 penalties were doled out, but neither the Moose nor the IceHogs netted a powerplay goal. Though Manitoba led 14-7 in shots, Rockford was up 1-0 after the first 20 minutes of play.
Second Period
Four minutes into the second, a disallowed Rockford goal followed by plenty of stellar saves at both ends kept the game within one. But Moose rookie Luc Bourdon would interrupt the goaltending duel by redirecting a bouncing rebound from the slot, sending the puck sailing past Flaherty's right shoulder. The goal tied the game at one for Manitoba.
Third Period
The Moose started the third period on their fourth powerplay of the game after Ref Kyle Rehman called a bench minor on the visiting team. Though Flaherty remained airtight through the IceHogs PK, Greg Classen put the home team up one by ascending on the wily netminder during five-on-five play. Classen's first goal of the season would give Manitoba their first lead of the game.
As the Moose increased their shot-count, Captain Mike Keane did the same for the score, beating Flats on his stick-side to put the Moose up 3-1. The two-goal lead wouldn't last long, however, as Jake Dowell countered for the IceHogs, snapping the puck past MacIntyre nine minutes in.
The Moose pushed past the 30-shot mark midway through the final frame, and both teams cranked their offensive intensity as the clock ticked down. Despite opting for the extra attacker in the final minute of play, the IceHogs failed to force overtime and Manitoba completed the series comeback by holding on for a 3-2 victory.
