First Period

With the Moose looking for their second consecutive win and the Americans looking to rebound from a shutout, it should be no surprise that passions ran high at the MTS Centre Wednesday night. Gritty play on both ends of the ice set the tone early in the game, and 11-minutes in, divisional rivalries ignited between Manitoba's Mike Brown and Rochester's Mike Weber, resulting in the third fight in two nights between both teams.

With the Americans down a man due to Weber's extra boarding penalty, the Moose were quick to attack. After circling the puck behind the Americans net, Jason Jaffray slipped the short pass to Brad Moran at the crease, who tucked it in behind netminder David Shantz.

But Manitoba's top line wasn't through yet. Trading offensive roles just over a minute later, Moran fed Jaffray at the top of the crease, and #15 tipped it past Shantz to put the Moose up 2-0. Feeding off Mike Brown's tenacity in the Rochester zone, Alexandre Bolduc increased Manitoba's lead to three goals, capping the home team's most productive period of the season.

Second Period

An ear-piercing ping off Drew MacIntyre's post 30-seconds into the second period alerted fans that the Americans were striving to even the score. But two of Manitoba's newest acquisitions propelled the Moose even further ahead, as Mason Raymond -- in his first Moose game this season -- directed a cross-crease pass to Stanley Cup-winner Ryan Shannon, who expertly directed it back behind Shantz.

Two minutes later, Rochester's second powerplay of the game would prove to break their goose-egg. As the Americans swarmed the Moose zone on a two-man advantage, forward Mark Mancari closed the gap by sniping a shot past MacIntyre for the visitors' first goal on their ninth shot of the game.

Third Period

Not willing to sit on their three-goal lead, Manitoba's top line struck again three minutes into the third. Already posting a goal and assist each in the game, Moran and Jaffray set up right-winger Jozef Balej for his first goal of the season.

One sturdy post and a bit of luck kept a bouncy puck out the Moose net near the 15-minute mark, but Manitoba recovered control and stretched their lead to five goals on a powerplay marker by local boy Colby Genoway. Eager to get in on the action, 2006 Canucks Draft Pick Juraj Simek used his speed and stickhandling to out-play Shantz and put the Moose up 7-1.

Three consecutive penalties in the latter half of the third kept Moose penalty-killers on their toes, but the Americans failed to capitalize and dropped their second game in as many nights to the Manitoba Moose.
