Manitoba poured on the pressure in the dying seconds of the game but for the second straight night could not find the tying goal and fell 3-2 to the visiting Bulldogs. Carey Price took home first star honours for the visitors for the second game in-a-row as he stopped 41 of 43 shots in the win. Manitoba now trails Hamilton 2-0 in the series and will have to win at least two of the next three games in Hamilton to bring the series back to Manitoba for Game 6. The series now switches to Copps Coliseum for Games 3, 4 and 5 starting Tuesday, May 8th at 6:30PM CDT.

First Period

The Bulldogs are going with the same starting lineup for Game 2 as Kyle Chipchura, Jonathan Ferland, and Ajay Baines start at forward, and Dan Jancevski and Mathieu Biron start on defence. Carey Price gets the start again in goal for the Bulldogs.

Nathan Smith, Jannik Hansen, and Colby Genoway get the starting assignment on forward for the Moose, while Prestin Ryan and Yannick Tremblay start on defence. Drew MacIntyre continues to start for Manitoba in goal.

Luc Bourdon is seeing his first playoff action for the Moose as he replaces Shaun Heshka in the lineup and Michael Grabner will also play tonight as he takes Jesse Schultz's place.

For the second game in-a-row the Moose gave up the first goal of the game as Cory Urquhart scored his second goal of the playoffs on a soft backhand that found its way through the wickets of Drew MacIntyre, giving the visiting Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at 9:44 of period one.

Then the Bulldogs got into penalty trouble, giving the Moose a 2-man advantage in the first period for the second straight game. First Ryan O'Byrne was called for slashing and then Andrew Archer cross-checked Jason Jaffray in front of the Hamilton goal to put the Moose up 5-on-3.

The Moose worked the puck around looking for a good shooting lane, but the Bulldogs did a good job of filling those lanes and limiting Manitoba's chances. Hamilton killed off the penalties to hold on to their one-goal lead.

The line of Mason Raymond, Brandon Reid, and Mike Keane put on the pressure in the Dogs zone, where Corey Locke was called for slashing the stick of Raymond as he drove to the net for a scoring opportunity. On that powerplay Manitoba would finally get a shot through on Carey Price and would reap the rewards as Yannick Tremblay blasted a one-timer past the Hamilton netminder to tie the game at one goal apiece. Jason Jaffray and Brad Moran drew the assists on the goal at 17:18. The goal looked very similar to Lee Goren's goal last night with similr results as the puck went high over the blocker shoulder of Price.

Manitoba came inches away from taking the lead for the first time in the series, as Max Fortunus fired a shot towards the net that was tipped in front and went off the crossbar but stayed out, falling harmlessly in the corner of the Bulldogs' zone.

The first period would come to an end with the teams tied at one goal apiece and the Moose leading 17-8 in shots.

Second Period

The second period started fast as both teams had some chances early in the frame.

Manitoba set up a couple of nice one-timers first Brandon Reid to Mike Keane in the slot and then Jannik Hansen fed Nathan Smith out front but Carey Price stood tall on both occasions to thwart the Moose chances. Then Drew MacIntyre had his turn to shine as he stopped Mikhail Grabovski at the right post not once but twice to keep things tied.

Then the Bulldogs had a great chance as Jason Jaffray stepped out of the way to try and let his goalie see the point shot, but unfortunately Jonathan Ferland was standing in front of MacIntyre causing a screen of his own. MacIntyre made the initial save and then Ferland had a whack at the rebound that D-Mac also stopped. The rebound came loose to Kyle Chipchura at the left post but he missed the net as he put the puck back through the crease.

The Moose got their fourth powerplay chance of the night when Andrew Archer was called for tripping Mason Raymond in the Bulldogs zone. Unfortunately Nathan Smith ended another Moose man-advantage prematurely when he was called for cross-checking in front of the Hamilton net.

No sooner Smith was released from the box he was sent right back as he was called for tripping Corey Locke at the Bulldogs blueline. In Smith's defence, Locke backed over his skate on the play.

Manitoba killed off the Bulldog man-advantage leaving Hamilton 0-for-2 on the powerplay.

Colby Genoway and Nathan Smith combined on a couple of chances before the period ended, but neither player could beat Carey Price and the score remained tied 1-1 through 40:00.

Third Period

Yannick Tremblay put the Moose on the penalty kill just 0:20 into the third period as he was called for interference. However Mathieu Biron was called for tripping at 0:49 of the period to end the Bulldogs advantage.

Manitoba got a fortunate break as Jason Jaffray and Lee Goren combined on a goal to put the Moose in front 2-1 at 1:30 of the period. The two broke in 2-on-1 where Jaffray fed a pass across to Goren who blasted the one-timer off the crossbar and in. The goal light came on but the referee took several minutes to consult with his linesmen and the goal judge as he never clearly saw the puck cross the line. Referee, Frederick L'Ecuyer finally called it a goal much to the chagrin of the visitors.

Hamilton did not wait long to respond as Maxim Lapierre scored his fifth goal of the post-season to tie the score once again. Lapierre came around the back of the Moose net with a wrap-around attempt at the left post. Drew MacIntyre made the first save but Lapierre continued to whack away at it before finally getting it past the Moose goaltender to tie the affair. Duncan Milroy and Eric Manlow drew the assists on the game-tying goal at 3:32.

Manitoba had a chance in the Bulldogs zone where Lee Goren was stopped by the left pad of Carey Price and on the counter attack Hamilton took the lead once again. Matt D'Agostini fired a rocket from the right wing boards that beat Drew MacIntyre on the blocker-side to put the visitors back in front 3-2. Mikhail Grabovski and Corey Locke assisted on the go-ahead goal at 4:37.

Manitoba called their timeout with 1:19 left in the game and the face-off to the left of Carey Price. Drew MacIntyre stayed on the bench as the Moose went with the extra attacker.

The Moose poured on the pressure in the dying seconds but for the second straight game could not find the game-tying goal and fell 3-2 to the visiting Bulldogs. Manitoba now trails Hamilton 2-0 in the series and will have to win at least two of the next three games in Hamilton to bring the series back to Manitoba for Game 6.
