Mason Raymond, Marc Chouinard and Brad Moran scored for the Moose and Drew MacIntyre made all 23 saves for his third shutout of the season as Manitoba blanked the Stars 3-0. The Moose improved their overall record to 43-22-7-5 just two points shy of their 100 point season in 2005-06. Manitoba still holds a seven point lead over Rochester in the North Division standings and maintain their one point lead on Omaha for the Western Conference lead. The Moose will play their final raod game of the season in Peoria tomorrow night.

First Period

Drew MacIntyre gets the start in goal again for the Moose as he looks for his first victory versus the Stars it his 40th start of the season. Tobius Stephan gets his second start of the year versus the Moose, as he played one of the games versus Manitoba at the MTS Centre Mar. 9

Mason Raymond put the Moose up early as he blasted home his second goal of the season through the legs of Tobius Stephan. Mike Keane and Alex Edler drew the assists on the opening goal of the game. Just 0:28 into the game it was the second fastest goal to start a game for the Moose this season. Brad Moran scored just 0:24 in to the game versus Hershey on Dec. 2/06.

Nathan McIver took the first penalty of the game, an interference call at 1:39 of the opening period. The Moose killed off the penalty without allowing a sniff for the home-town Stars.

The Moose increased their lead to two goals when Marc Chouinard scored his second goal of the season for the Moose at 6:10 of the period on just the third shot of the game for the Moose. Jesse Schultz and Jannik Hansen assisted on the goal for Manitoba which chased Tobius Stephan from the Stars net. Dan Ellis came in to replace the young Swiss netminder.

Iowa defenceman Matt Niskanen took an interference penalty at 9:28 to give the Moose their first powerplay opportunity of the game.

The Moose had some good pressure in the Stars zone, peppering shot at Ellis in the Iowa goal, but Lee Goren was called for goaltender interference cutting the Moose powerplay short.

Just as Iowa started their abbreviated powerplay, Paul Szczechura hauled down Jesse Schultz in the corner ending their second man-advantage of the game.

When the Moose started their powerplay they gave up a quick 2-on-1 shorthanded where Drew MacIntyre had to bail-out his mates with a great left pad save. The Moose failed to find the Stars zone on their shortened powerplay chance.

The parade to the penalty-box continued as Marc Fistric was called for tripping at 14:09, giving the Moose their third powerplay chance of the period.

The Moose had a great powerplay from a possession stand point but they could not beat Dan Ellis in net, leaving the team 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.

Janos Vas took the third straight penalty for the Stars and their fourth of the opening period to give the Moose yet another chance on the powerplay.

The Moose had good control with the extra-attacker once again but they failed to capitalize with the man-advantage for the fourth straight time.

The penalty came to an end with the Moose holding a 2-0 lead and dominating 14-5 in the shot department.

Second Period

Brad Moran put the Moose up by three goals as he jammed home his 24th goal of the season. Lee Goren put the original shot off the post and then took a whack at the rebound that Ellis stopped but Moran was standing just outside the crease to jam the loose puck under the Iowa netminder. Goren and Jaffray drew the assists on the goal at 3:56 of the second. Moran's high for goals in a season is 26 set in 2004-05 with the Syracuse Crunch.

Janos Vas took his second consecutive penalty this time for elbowing as he hammered Nathan McIver along the boards at centre ice. The Moose fell to 0-for-5 on the game as they failed to connect with the man-advantage one more time.

Stars centre Greg Rallo took the fifth straight penalty for Iowa, giving the Moose their sixth powerplay opportunity. Jason Jaffray was called for holding the stick while on the powerplay leaving the Moose 0-for-6 on the night.

The teams played 4-on-4 until the Stars penalty to Rallo expired. While 4-on-4 Prestin Ryan and Marc Chouinard almost combined to put the Moose up 4-0 but he fired his shot off the side of the net.

Once the Stars powerplay started Junior Lessard had a great chance to get Iowa on the board but Drew MacIntyre held them off the scoresheet with a nice save as he closed his pads on Lessard's five-hole effort.

Despite giving up two early powerplays the Stars clawed their way back on the shot clock to trail 16-13 but they have yet to beat Drew MacIntyre in the Moose net.

Third Period

Jason Jaffray took his second penalty of the game when he was called for hauling down a Stars player on their way to the net at 6:20 of the period.

The Moose killed off the fourth Iowa advantage successfully, maintaining their three-goal lead.

Yarod Hagos put a damper on Iowa's comeback effort when he was sent to the box for holding, the seventh minor penalty of the game committed by the Stars. They were able to kill it off but it left them with less than 4:00 to get three goals.

The Moose would hang on from there as Drew MacIntyre earned his third shutout of the season, returning the favour after losing 1-0 last Sunday to the Stars. Manitoba finished 3-1-0-0 versus the Stars this season allowing only three goals against in the four matchups.
