By Travis Kondratuk

The Moose set a season high for goals in a game on their way to their ninth straight win and are now tied for first place in the North Division with the Rochester Americans. Alexandre Bolduc had two goals and two assists to lead the way in scoring for the Moose while several others had multi-point games. The Moose have now won four straight road games which ties their season best. The team will look to break that mark and tie their franchise record for consecutive wins with ten tomorrow night in Syracuse.

First Period

Wade Flaherty gets his third straight start in net for the Moose, while Adam Dennis starts in goal for the Americans.

Martin Tuma took the first penalty of the game for the Amerks, as he was called for holding at 3:23 into the game.

Adam Dennis came up huge on the Moose powerplay, as he absolutely robbed Jesse Schultz of a sure goal, reaching behind him to keep the game scoreless.

After the Moose powerplay chance expired Wade Flaherty made a few brilliant saves of his own flashing the leather on Greg Jacina.

Maxime Fortunus took a tripping penalty at 7:47 putting the Moose shorthanded for the first time in the game.

The Amerks bombarded the Moose goal with the man-advantage but could not solve Wade Flaherty as he made several key saves to keep Rochester off the scoreboard.

Only seconds after the penalty expired Jason Jaffray fed Lee Goren who blasted a shot through the five-hole on Adam Dennis to give the Moose a 1-0 lead. The go-ahead goal came at 10:01 of the first period.

Just 2:00 minutes later, Brandon Reid fed a beautiful pass to Alexandre Bolduc who scored his third goal of the season to put the Moose up 2-0. For the second game in-a-row versus the Americans the Moose had jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Yannick Tremblay took a hooking penalty at 13:55, putting the Moose's number one penalty-kill to the test once again.

This time Rochester had the answer to the Moose penalty-kill as Anthony Stuart blasted home his 10th goal of the season for the Amerks. It was the first powerplay goal the Moose have allowed in five games, and the sixth powerplay marker the Moose have given up to Rochester on the season. The goal trimmed the Moose lead to one goal.

With under a minute left in the first period Alexandre Bolduc got his second goal of the game cleaning up the leftovers on an Alex Edler shot. The goal scored on the 10th shot of the game for Manitoba, restored the two-goal lead for the visiting Moose.

Rochester outshot Manitoba 17-14 through 20:00, but the Moose lead where it matters 3-1 on the scoresheet.

Second Period

Adam Dennis made what could be a game-saver for the Americans as he stoned Lee Goren on the doorstep to keep his team within striking distance. The line of Jaffray, Moran and Goren had control down low in the Amerks zone but Dennis came up huge for the home side.

Rochester was called for two many men on the ice, giving the Moose their second powerplay chance of the game.

Nathan Smith tallied his 12th goal of the season as he scored on the powerplay to give the Moose a 4-1 lead. Jesse Schultz and Patrick Coulombe drew the assists on the fourth goal for the Moose. Both teams are now 1-for-2 on the powerplay for the game.

The Moose went right back to the powerplay as Dylan Hunter was called for holding the stick. The Americans killed that penalty off to hold the deficit to three goals.

Dustin Wood was called for interference late in the period to give Rochester a chance to work their way back into the game.

The Moose were able to hold the Americans off for the rest of the period and now carry a three-goal lead into the third period despite being outshot 31-21 through 40:00.

Third Period

The Moose may have supplied the nail in the coffin early, as Jesse Schultz scored 1:13 into the third to put the Moose up 5-1. Colby Genoway, parked behind the net fed Schultz out front who potted his 17th goal of the season past Adam Dennis in the Rochester goal. Alexandre Bolduc drew the second assist on the goal.

Martin Tuma took a penalty just seconds after the Moose extended their lead, his second penalty of the game.

The Moose would make them pay, as only 0:10 into the powerplay Patrick Coulombe scored his third goal of the season, his second versus the Amerks on the year, to put the Moose up 6-1. Jesse Schultz and Alexandre Bolduc drew the assists on the goal. Bolduc now has four points on the night.

That goal chased Adam Dennis from the Rochester goal as they replaced him with Adam Berkhoel.

Martin Lojek scored on a low slapshot that found its way through the legs of Wade Flaherty at 11:23 to cut the Moose lead to 6-2. Drew Larmin got the only assist on the second goal of the game for the Amerks.

Then Greg Jacina scored only seconds later to make the Moose sweat just a little. The goal came just 0:12 after Lojek's goal to give the Americans a some life and bring the fans back into the game. Drew Larmin assisted on the Jacina goal as well.

However Brad Moran had other plans as he crushed the spirit of the Americans and their fans, scoring his 19th goal of the season less then half-a-minute later to make it a four-goal deficit for the Americans. Lee Goren and Jason Jaffray assisted on goal number seven for the Moose at 12:04.

The Moose set a season high for goals scored as J.J. Hunter scored the eighth goal of the game for Manitoba at 15:12. Lee Goren and Jason Jaffray drew the assists on the goal as the Moose opened the flood gates in this one.

With the victory the Manitoba Moose extend their season long winning streak to nine games and move into a tie with Rochester for first place in the North Division standings. The Moose ar just one win shy of tying the franchise winning streak of ten games set back in 1999-00. Manitoba now has 73 points with a 31-16-7-4 record.
